JB Smoove Set To Produce ‘High on Life’ Animated Show

As a longtime fan of both animated humor and quirky storytelling, I couldn’t be more thrilled about JB Smoove‘s involvement in the High on Life animated series! With his knack for bringing characters to life with his distinctive charm and wit, this project promises to be a wild, weird, and wonderfully entertaining ride.

According to recent reports, JB Smoove is planning to produce and potentially act in an animated TV show based on the universe created in 2022’s High on Life video game. This offbeat, peculiar first-person shooter was well-received when it was launched last year, and since then, many have suggested that it would make a great animated series due to its unique and engaging storyline.

Perfect For Television

Soaring Through Extraterrestrial Chaos, this game offers an original, engaging storyline where players engage diverse alien lifeforms in a struggle to prevent humans from being exploited as a powerful drug. The narrative is infused with humor and satire reminiscent of ‘Rick and Morty’.

One intriguing aspect of this game is that the characters controlling the weapons have their own sentient lives, each displaying distinct personalities and exerting an impact on the player’s decisions.

According to a report by Deadline, JB Smoove will be involved in creating an animated version of the video game “High on Life”. He’ll be collaborating closely with Russell Binder, Mandy Bardisbanian, and Alec Robbins, who served as the narrative director for the 2022 game.

In a statement, Smoove said:

With Squanch Games and Striker Entertainment teaming up with me, it seems destined that we’d bring the outrageously funny High On Life into a series! They’ve welcomed me into their gaming realm, and now I’m assisting them in expanding into television. It’s like one game acknowledging another! The series will be as wild, weird, and wonderful as the game itself, and so much more!

Over the past few years, the idea of live-action adaptations has flourished significantly, and this trend also applies to animated versions. Just this year, Fallout premiered on Amazon Prime Video to widespread acclaim, while before that, The Last of Us earned multiple Emmy Awards for its first season which aired in 2023.
