Saber Interactive is working on a new John Wick game for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. The game was revealed during Sony’s recent State of Play presentation, which also included announcements for a new Castlevania game and the surprise release of a new God of War title.
The recent announcement of a John Wick game during Sony’s State of Play wasn’t entirely unexpected. Lionsgate, the film production company, hinted at plans for high-quality games based on their popular franchises late last year. During an earnings call, Lionsgate’s Adam Fogelson mentioned they were looking into “AAA game opportunities” for both John Wick and Saw. While a Saw game hasn’t surfaced yet, this new John Wick game appears to be the project Fogelson had in mind.
Official John Wick Game Announced During Sony State of Play
As a huge John Wick fan, I was so excited to see the announcement of a new game! They dropped a two-minute trailer, and honestly, it felt like a John Wick movie. Most of it was these amazing pre-rendered scenes – you see Wick getting a suit tailored, then BAM, it cuts to crazy hand-to-hand fights and that signature gun-fu we all love. Then they finally show Keanu Reeves’ face, and we get a little taste of actual gameplay – some seriously brutal finishing moves! It looks incredible.
Okay, so I checked out the announcement for this new John Wick game, and it sounds pretty awesome! While the trailer didn’t show much, the official blog post gave me a better idea of what to expect. It’s being made with a ton of input from Chad Stahelski, the director of all the John Wick movies, which is huge. It won’t be a direct retelling of the films, but an original story within the John Wick universe. The best part? Keanu Reeves is doing his likeness and voice work! They’re promising we’ll see some characters we already know and love, plus some brand new faces. And apparently, they’re really focusing on nailing the feel of the movies – think fast, stylish gun fights (they’re calling it ‘gun fu’), cool camera angles, intense driving, and some really memorable locations. It sounds like they’re trying to make it feel just like being in a John Wick movie, and honestly, I’m hyped!
Saber Interactive has been making video games for over two decades, but they’ve become especially well-known recently for working on games based on popular franchises. Their 2024 release, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, was a hit, and a sequel is already planned. Currently, Saber is also developing a Hellraiser game, Jurassic Park Survival, Turok: Origins, and the highly anticipated remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

The new game will be the first large-scale, high-quality John Wick video game, though it’s actually the third game featuring the famous assassin. Previously, there was the 2017 VR game John Wick Chronicles, which wasn’t very popular, and John Wick Hex from 2019, a turn-based strategy game that had a more positive reception. While those games have their followers, the upcoming game from Saber Interactive is expected to be a much closer match to what fans want from an interactive John Wick experience, capturing the fast-paced action of the films.
