The world of Jujutsu Kaisen is packed with incredibly strong characters who have unbelievably powerful abilities – some of the most impressive ever seen in action anime. These special techniques, which range from controlling infinity to unleashing deadly, unseen attacks, are often as famous as the sorcerers themselves.
Some Jujutsu Kaisen characters possess incredibly strong cursed techniques, but haven’t been able to fully utilize their potential. This is often because they struggled to master the techniques themselves. In this article, we’ll explore those characters and the powerful abilities they haven’t quite perfected.
Nobara Kugisaki Could Target The Soul
Cursed Technique: Straw Doll Technique
Nobara was a student at Jujutsu High, just like Yuji and Megumi, but she often gets overlooked. However, her Cursed Technique is remarkably powerful – it’s one of the few that can directly attack an opponent’s soul, ignoring their physical defenses.
Nobara consistently demonstrated the strength of her technique and used it effectively. While she couldn’t fully develop it into a Domain Expansion that reflected its unique qualities, preventing complete mastery, she was still more skilled with her Innate Technique than many others.
Toge Inumaki Was Limited By His Low Cursed Energy
Cursed Technique: Cursed Speech
Toge Inumaki was an upperclassman at Tokyo Jujutsu High with a unique and powerful ability called Cursed Speech. This technique lets him control people by simply speaking commands, making them obey him – a remarkably effective skill at its core.
To truly master Cursed Speech, a large amount of Cursed Energy is necessary, as complicated commands require significant power. Inumaki, however, had limited Cursed Energy, restricting him to simple commands. Attempting more complex ones severely damaged his throat and could be fatal. Furthermore, he couldn’t repeatedly heal this damage using the Reverse Cursed Technique, which further restricted his abilities.
Mai Zenin’s Low Cursed Energy Limited Her Technique
Cursed Technique: Construction
During the Culling Game storyline, viewers witnessed the incredible power of Yorozu’s Construction Cursed Technique. Because she has a massive amount of Cursed Energy, she could build structures so powerful they even surprised Sukuna, like the Perfect Sphere, which could destroy anything in its way.
Mai Zenin used the Construction technique recently, but her version was much weaker than Yorozu’s. This was due to the rules of jujutsu, which see twins as one soul split in two. Because of this, Mai’s already limited cursed energy was further divided with her twin, Maki. As a result, Mai only had enough energy to create a single cursed energy bullet each day, preventing her from fully developing or understanding the potential of her technique.
Junpei Yoshino’s Powers Were Awakened Unnaturally
Cursed Technique: Moon Dregs
Junpei Yoshino is considered one of the most heartbreaking characters in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. His unique ability, called Moon Dregs, allowed him to summon a spirit and create a powerful, fast-acting poison using cursed energy. This poison could quickly disable anyone affected by it.
I noticed a significant problem with Junpei’s cursed energy. Unlike most sorcerers whose powers developed naturally, his were forced out by Mahito’s attack. Because of this, he didn’t have the chance to properly train and refine his abilities, leaving them underdeveloped compared to what they could have been.
Haruta Shigemo Is Unaware Of How His Technique Works
Cursed Technique: Miracles
Haruta is often considered the most unfortunate character in the series, and his Cursed Technique reflects that. Called ‘Miracles,’ it works by collecting small, everyday coincidences – like spotting 11:11 on a clock – and storing them. When Haruta’s life is threatened, these stored ‘miracles’ automatically activate, offering him a chance to survive.
It seemed like a really helpful ability, but Haruta never fully understood how it functioned. That’s why he couldn’t maximize its potential, and ultimately, when the power faded, Sukuna easily defeated him.
Megumi Fushiguro Was Sitting On A Gold Mine
Cursed Technique: The Ten Shadows
The Ten Shadows Cursed Technique is widely considered the most powerful and adaptable technique in Jujutsu Kaisen. It allows the user to summon ten different Shikigami, each with unique abilities, making it incredibly versatile. The ultimate Shikigami, Mahoraga, is especially formidable, as it can adapt to any attack or situation.
Fans often joke about Megumi, sometimes calling him ‘Potential Man’ because he seemed capable of becoming incredibly strong, even rivaling Gojo, but didn’t fully live up to that potential in the series. Although he learned most of the Ten Shadows techniques, his struggle with Mahoraga and frequent absences made him a frustratingly underdeveloped character in Jujutsu Kaisen.
Fumihiko Takaba Had The Greatest Cursed Technique Ever
Cursed Technique: The Comedian
With so many powerful and unusual abilities in this world, Fumihiko Takaba is unique – he might be strong enough to defeat everyone else. His Cursed Technique, ‘The Comedian,’ lets him do practically anything, as long as he finds it amusing.
Takaba’s power appears limitless – he can create anything he imagines, instantly move himself and others to different places, and even cancel out his opponents’ abilities, all seemingly just for his own amusement. The issue is, he doesn’t understand how his power works, making it unpredictable and uncontrollable. If he could gain mastery over it, however, he could potentially surpass even the strongest sorcerers like Gojo and Sukuna.
Jujutsu Kaisen can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
