In the anime and manga series One Piece, the Celestial Dragons are powerful and often villainous characters. They are descendants of the original 20 Kings who fought against the Ancient Kingdom centuries ago, ultimately leading to the defeat of Joy Boy. Most Celestial Dragons live in the secluded Holy Land of Marijoa, located on the Red Line, where they exert control over the world. However, not all who carry the ‘celestial bloodline’ live in Marijoa; some remain hidden among the general population, and many possess incredible strength.
8. Jewelry Bonney
- Celestial Dragon Family: Unknown
Bonney first appeared in One Piece during the story arc at Sabaody Archipelago, where she was introduced as one of the eleven powerful Supernovas. However, her character really came into focus during the Egghead arc. We learned she’s actually only twelve years old, and that she has a surprising lineage: she’s half Celestial Dragon. Her mother, Ginny, suffered a terrible fate – she was kidnapped and mistreated by the Celestial Dragons, which led to Bonney’s birth.
Ginny’s dismissal from her position only happened when she became seriously ill with a life-threatening condition called Sapphire Scale. Following the death of her mother, Bonney was raised by Bartholomew Kuma. While her specific Celestial Dragon lineage is a mystery, it’s clear she has ties to the World Nobles. Despite her young age, Bonney is remarkably powerful, already mastering two types of Haki at just 12 years old. Furthermore, her Devil Fruit, the Toshi Toshi no Mi, even grants her the ability to use Gear 5.
7. Shepherd Sommers
- Celestial Dragon Family: Shepherd
Saint Sommers isn’t one of the most impressive Holy Knights, but he’s still a formidable opponent. He’s the second member of the Shepherd family we know of, following Ju Peter, and his abilities – including the Iba Iba no Mi and his Covenant – make him a dangerous foe on Elbaf. He becomes even more powerful after transforming into Super Sommers with a boost from Imu’s Omen.
Sommers has been a Holy Knight for many years, going back at least to the events at God Valley. This makes him a highly experienced warrior, particularly skilled due to his divine lineage.
6. Rimoshifu Killingham
- Celestial Dragon Family: Rimoshifu
Saint Killingham is an active member of the God’s Knights. He is currently the only known member of the Rimoshifu family, a prominent lineage among the twenty Kings families residing in Marijoa.
Killingham is a powerful warrior who serves Imu. As a Holy Knight, he benefits from a special agreement called the Depths Covenant, granting him abilities like rapid healing and incredible strength. He also has a rare and potent Devil Fruit, the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Kirin, which allows him to make dreams come true.
5. Gunko Manmayer
- Celestial Dragon Family: Manmayer
Gunko was first shown alongside Figarland Shamrock in Elbaf, and we soon learned her full Celestial Dragon name was Gunko Manmayer. She’s an unusual Celestial Dragon, and it’s unclear if she’s truly of the ‘God’ lineage. The reveal of her birth name, Shuri, and her origins in Esperia, suggest she isn’t a Celestial Dragon through her father’s side. However, her mother, Candelle, might be.
Regardless of how it happened, Gunko became a Holy Knight of God, and she’s exceptionally powerful – among the strongest of them. Shamrock believed Gunko could even defeat Loki if he were at full strength, which is saying a lot considering Loki’s power is comparable to that of the Yonko. Gunko has the Aro Aro no Mi ability and a special agreement with Imu, who can even take control of Gunko’s body and cause destruction.
4. Figarland Shamrock
- Celestial Dragon Family: Figarland
Figarland Shamrock is a key character in the Final Saga. He was first properly introduced during the Egghead arc, though he was previously mentioned in chapter 1121. The reveal that Shamrock is Shanks’ twin brother surprised many fans, largely because of how different their personalities are. As a Figarland, Shamrock possesses divine lineage, and the contrast with Shanks stems from their separate lives after being divided during the God Valley Incident.
Shanks and Shamrock appear to be equals in terms of potential, suggesting Shamrock could become incredibly powerful – possibly even rivaling the strongest characters in the series, thanks to his agreement with Imu. He also wields the Cerberus sword, a weapon capable of defeating most opponents. While the full extent of Shamrock’s Haki isn’t known yet, he’s clearly among the most powerful fighters.

3. Five Elders
- Celestial Dragon Family: Figarland, Shepherd, Marcus, Topman, Ethanbaron, Jaygarcia.
The Five Elders are incredibly influential figures within the World Government, taking direct orders from Imu. They are the second most powerful group after Imu and the Celestial Dragons. It’s widely believed they are descendants of the kings who fought against the Ancient Kingdom long ago, during the mysterious Void Century. As members of the Celestial Dragon lineage, their power is immense, demonstrated by the abilities they displayed on Egghead island in the One Piece series.
The Five Elders have incredibly powerful Yokai abilities and can endlessly heal and regenerate, effectively making them immortal, thanks to their agreement with Imu. Luffy couldn’t hurt them during the Egghead incident and was forced to flee. Their newest member, Garling Figarland, is particularly dangerous, being the father of both Shanks and Shamrock, suggesting immense hidden power.
2. Shanks
- Celestial Dragon Family: Figarland
Shanks has ancestry connected to the Celestial Dragons, but he rejects their lifestyle and sides with pirates, valuing freedom instead. He was born on the island of Figarland to Garling and a woman named Magnolia, who came from God Valley. He has a twin brother, Shamrock, but they were separated as children and grew up leading very different lives.
Shanks once allied with Imu, but that connection ended under unknown circumstances. He’s easily one of the most powerful characters in the One Piece world, even rivaling the strongest beings. His Haki is possibly the strongest seen in a long time, with some comparing it to that of the legendary Joy Boy.
1. Nerona Imu
- Celestial Dragon Family: Nerona
Imu is almost certainly the most powerful character who shares ancestry with the Celestial Dragons. While his past is a mystery, evidence suggests he existed during the Void Century, alongside legendary figures like Joy Boy and Nefertari Lily.
Imu is shaping up to be an immensely powerful final villain in One Piece, revealed as the hidden mastermind controlling events from behind the scenes. His recent arrival in Elbaf has given fans a taste of his incredible abilities. Imu’s Devil Fruit powers are terrifying, allowing him to use techniques like Domi Reversi – turning opponents into enslaved demons – and Omen, a destructive black fire that both protects him, harms enemies, and strengthens his allies. Currently, Imu appears nearly impossible to defeat.
