Launched in 2023, Kagurabachi has quickly become a major hit for Shonen Jump, and is expected to gain even more popularity when the anime premieres in April 2027. Many believe it’s currently the only series with a real chance of surpassing Solo Leveling in popularity.
Before the story begins, Chihiro’s father, Kunishige Rokuhira, created six magical swords using a special ore called Datenseki, which allowed wielders to safely harness spiritual energy. These swords were recently being stolen, and Kunishige was killed trying to defend them. Now, Chihiro is traveling across Japan with a mysterious seventh sword, called Enten, seeking to avenge his father. Only five of the seven swords have been revealed so far, so let’s take a look at each one and their unique abilities.
Kumeyuri
| Abilities (Japanese) | En, Yu, ??? |
| Abilities (English) | Banquet, Play, ??? |
| Wielder | Hiruhiko |
This sword is currently used by Hiruhiko, and it has the potential to become more powerful as we learn more about what it can do. It can create illusions and move objects, but it doesn’t seem as strong as other blades right now. Still, it has a hidden ability that could be extremely helpful and give its user a significant advantage.
Tobimune
| Abilities (Japanese) | Karasu, Fukuro, Suzaku |
| Abilities (English) | Crow, Owl, Suzaku |
| Wielder | None |
Tobimune isn’t as powerful as Kuregumo or Enten, but it has some really useful and special abilities, including fast movement that feels like teleportation, stealth capabilities, and the ability to find anyone. Since Samura has passed away, the blade is currently unbound. While very helpful, Tobimune is also the most difficult blade to control, likely because it was originally created for a support role. However, its potential is so great that some think it could be the strongest blade of them all.

Kuregumo (Cloud Gouger)
| Abilities (Japanese) | Mei, Yui, Kou |
| Abilities (English) | Mei, Yui, Kou |
| Wielder | None |
The sword Kuregumo once belonged to Ibuki Mikasa, but was later stolen by Genichi Sojo. Since Sojo’s death, no one has truly wielded it, though Chihiro used it briefly. Sojo himself couldn’t fully tap into the sword’s full power, but it was still clear how incredibly strong it could be. Kuregumo is a very adaptable weapon, though it doesn’t offer much protection. Despite this, a skilled user can unlock its immense destructive power, making it one of the seven most dangerous blades.
Enten
| Abilities (Japanese) | Kuro, Aka, Nishiki |
| Abilities (English) | Kuro, Aka, Nishiki |
| Wielder | Chihiro Rokuhira |
I’m totally fascinated by Enten, Chihiro’s sword! It’s the only one made after the war, and I like to think Chihiro had a little something to do with that! Everyone says it’s the most powerful weapon because it’s so well-rounded – you can attack and defend with it. Though, honestly, Chihiro’s still learning how to really master it, which is exciting because we get to watch him grow! Some people think it’s a little simple right now, but considering Kunishige dedicated the last years of his life to protecting it, I definitely see huge potential. I can’t wait to see what Chihiro does with it!
Magatsumi
| Abilities (Japanese) | Kumo, Tonbo, Mukade, Chou, Hachi, Kodoku |
| Abilities (English) | Spider, Dragonfly, Centipede, Butterfly, Bee, Malediction |
| Wielder | Yura (by proxy) |
Magatsumi, also known as “Shin’uchi,” is considered the most powerful of the seven blades. It grants its wielder incredible abilities, including freezing opponents, launching energy blasts, and executing devastating slashes. Its special move, Kodoku (Malediction), is capable of wiping out large numbers of enemies, but at a great cost to the user’s own life force. Currently, Yura can tap into some of Magatsumi’s power, though only a limited range of its abilities. If Yura could fully access its potential, he would be unstoppable. While incredibly destructive, Magatsumi is relatively weak defensively.
Kagurabachi is available to read on MANGA Plus, and it’s one of the platform’s biggest hits.
