Latest Tarkov Patch Notes – Spring Has Finally Sprung and AI Changes Are Running Wild

Battlestate Games has rolled out a fresh update for Escape from Tarkov, and this time around, it’s saying goodbye to snowy conditions and welcoming a spring ambiance instead. As the frozen ground begins to melt and trees bloom, players can now bid farewell to snowblindness and crunchy footsteps, making this an exciting development for those who have grown weary of the winter weather.

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement over the recent upgrades our brilliant BSG team has rolled out! They’ve significantly revamped the AI engine and mechanics of the game, and let me tell you, these updates have sent shockwaves across the global gaming community. It’s like a whole new game, but with the same addictive charm we all love!

Read on to learn everything you need to know about this relatively major Escape from Tarkov update.

Springtime Has Arrived

With the absence of snowfall in Escape from Tarkov, camouflaging in shrubbery and donning dark attire becomes an option yet again. The emergence of spring-like weather might lead to increased rain during your missions, but it’s a small price to pay for the beauty that comes with it.

Enthusiasts of Escape from Tarkov worldwide are expressing delight over some fresh AI-centered updates the game has introduced lately.

This widely-used action game frequently encounters problems related to its AI, such as unpredictable behavior, glitches in mechanics, and confusing tactical elements that can frustrate players significantly. Throughout its history, we’ve witnessed instances of ‘aimbot’ enemies, erratic health system alterations, nonsensical patrol routes by NPCs, and persistent audio problems, all stemming from the AI-controlled non-player characters.

This latest Tarkov patch makes a phenomenal number of changes to the game’s AI.

For instance:

  • Enemy detection has been overhauled and is dependent on distance, view angle, weather, stance, and aggravation levels. If you’re prone in fog and not in the enemy’s line of sight, you’ll be detected incredibly slowly compared to if you were running in the open
  • Vegetation now impacts the enemy’s vision – except Zryachiy, Birdeye, and the BTR because they’re just on another level. If you hide in a bush, you’re hidden.
  • Enemies will now relay information about an enemy only to those close to them. If the bot isn’t in a group, it can only shout to a maximum of 50 meters.
  • Only Raiders, Rogues, and Bosses will use suppressive fire mechanics. If a common AI enemy can’t see you, they won’t shoot you, which means no more wallbang deaths.
  • When an AI enemy is hit, it’ll suffer a considerable accuracy drop.
  • If a common AI enemy detects you at long range, they won’t immediately engage, but instead, they’ll deploy a ‘waiting tactic’ until you fire first.

In our design, we’ve covered the frequency, locations, and movement patterns of AI opponents. As a result, no single player can cause an excessive number of bot appearances. This feature should prove beneficial in PvE situations where you won’t get overwhelmed by continuous waves of Scavs.

In summary, AI opponents will not cluster closely or share the same cover spots, thereby minimizing collisions and overcrowding, and consequently, easing strain on system resources.

Furthermore, with this recent update, Battlestate Games has addressed several bothersome problems that players have been encountering in Escape from Tarkov.

  • Headshots are no longer deafening
  • The ‘arm/thorax damage issue’ has been resolved
  • Bots can no longer pass through closed doors
  • Error 228 has now been fixed
  • Transitions in PvE will no longer take you into a PvP game – thanks, BSG
