LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is one of the most ambitious LEGO Batman titles to date, with a huge game world filled to the brim with an array of collectibles. In a love-letter to the franchise, players will find all kinds of things to collect for their own personal Batcave. There are shops that sell all kinds of unique decorations, as well as trophies to collect that serve as reminders of Batman’s many adventures. There are Riddler Challenges to complete, as well as Cluemaster challenges, and a handful of trials that will test players driving, gliding, and combat skills.

Tips For Navigating Gotham City In LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight

Although there are many structured missions that players will come across during their journey through LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight’s expansive Six Chapter storyline, most of the collection and activity aspects take place in the open world of Gotham City. There are four islands in total for players to explore, as well as a Bat Cave complete with purchasable expansions and the ability to decorate with an array of collectibles and purchasable decor.

It can be pretty overwhelming to have free reign to simply go anywhere, but there are actually a handful of things that are sneakily “locked” behind storyline-based progression. Here’s a look at some tips for players that are just getting started.

Some Puzzles And Collectibles Require Certain Characters

Perhaps the biggest “gate” to collecting and unlocking things throughout Gotham City is the fact that each character has their own unique gadgets. These tools are often required to solve Riddler Puzzles, Cluemaster Puzzles, open Waynetech Caches, or even collect certain items. The Towers, which act as specialized waypoints which can show players items and collectibles they may have missed, require access to the character unlocked all the way in Chapter 4. Because of this, players may want to spend a majority of their time navigating the story before venturing out into the open world and trying to collect items and solve puzzles.

Unlock Fast Travel As Soon As Possible

The map for Gotham City in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is rather large, and it can take a bit to navigate across the multiple islands. Thankfully, there are Fast Travel points that players can unlock by visting areas called Subwaynes. These Fast Travel points often require players to complete a puzzle, and some of them require specific characters and access to their gadgets to open. That said, unlocking these Fast Travel points are incredibly helpful in navigating the city and getting to specific spots quickly and easily.

Gliding Is Often Faster Than Driving

Although driving can be a lot of fun, and the Batmobile is required for certain puzzles, players may find it easier to navigate Gotham by zipping across the skies. This is especially true once players progress the story far enough to unlock the ability to glide faster. Players will not be able to glide right off the bat, so they’ll want to at least experience the story far enough to gain access to the feature. There are also skills that players can unlock pertaining to gliding (using Skill Bricks) that can make gliding even better.
