I was absolutely blown away by what one LEGO builder created! They’re a huge Back to the Future fan, just like me, and they took the DeLorean and gave it this incredible, rugged Mad Max makeover. It’s seriously cool, and it’s getting so much attention from other Back to the Future fans online – and honestly, it deserves all the praise it’s getting!
Considering LEGO’s tradition of creating sets based on popular franchises, it’s not surprising that they’ve released official Back to the Future sets. Several LEGO versions of the DeLorean time machine have been made available, including a new one released in early 2026. While many fans enjoy building the iconic vehicle as it appears in the movie, others have opted for more creative designs.
Mad Max-Themed LEGO DeLorean
A Reddit user named V0XZAC0 recently shared a really imaginative take on the DeLorean. They transformed it into a rugged, Mad Max-style vehicle, complete with wasteland versions of Doc and Marty. The model features huge, lifted wheels and is decked out with chains and spikes, giving it the appearance of a powerful war machine.
In addition to posting photos of his LEGO creation on Reddit, V0XZAC0 shared a backstory for the set. According to the story, Doc and Marty accidentally traveled too far into the future with their time machine, landing in a desolate wasteland where society had crumbled and robotic vehicles dominated the landscape. The LEGO set depicts a modified DeLorean, rebuilt to withstand the harsh conditions of this ruined world.
As a LEGO enthusiast and movie buff, I have to say this new DeLorean build is a hit! It’s really taken off on the LEGO subreddit, racking up over 8,200 upvotes. People are loving the clever combination of building techniques and especially the look of those big tires. I’ve seen tons of comments from builders who are inspired to create their own versions, and thankfully, the creator, V0XZAC0, has promised instructions are on the way. It’s a fantastic build that really captures the spirit of the iconic car.
