What Happens If You Answer Loretta’s Questions
As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent navigating through complex narratives, I must say that Life is Strange: Double Exposure has certainly lived up to its reputation. The characters are diverse and intriguing, each one adding their unique flavor to the game’s rich tapestry.
Choices in dialogue significantly impact the gameplay experience of “Life is Strange: Double Exposure,” consistently steering the storyline in unforeseen directions based on the people you encounter.
Among a mix of both impressive and less-than-impressive individuals, you eventually encounter Loretta – a determined yet incredibly annoying journalism student at the prestigious Caledon University.
In the final part of Chapter 1, you will initially meet Loretta at the Art Building, just as you attempt to intercept a call from Dr. Gwen Hunter. As you do so, Loretta appears behind you.
In the scenario where Loretta persistently presses Max about Safi’s murder, you find yourself in a situation with two possible responses: You could respond by answering her questions, or alternatively, you might choose to challenge her by suggesting that she wouldn’t actually report your overheard phone conversation to Gwen.
In this case, there’s only one correct option available, unlike the ethically complex alternatives in this game. Let’s explore each choice and determine which is the best selection.
What Happens If You Call Her Bluff
Let’s tackle the first option first, as I feel it’s my duty to shield both of you from the potential awkwardness that might come from choosing this.
You have the freedom to respond to Loretta’s first discouraging queries about Safi however you wish. Your answers won’t alter the storyline since Max has decided not to reveal any further information.
It might come as a shock to many, but selecting “Call Her Bluff” could lead to Loretta storming into Gwen’s office, revealing our attempt to eavesdrop on her phone conversation, and betraying us in the process.
Gwen might express her displeasure towards you by asking you to stay away, implying that any positive actions done together in the past, like retrieving the book from the locked cabinet for her, may no longer hold significance.
You can choose to give any explanation you want, but all three will result in a similar moment of Max getting awkwardly berated for being a nosy gumshoe only too good for her own sake.
As I delve deeper into this game, it’s not until Chapter 3 that the real impact unfolds. That’s when I’ll have a chat with Gwen in her office to gather intel about Maya Okada. What intrigues me most is the opportunity to sneak a peek at Safi’s manuscript sitting right here on this desk.
Since she scolded us before, not only might she be distant when Max meets her again, but she may even refuse to give you the manuscript. However, fortunately, there’s another way: retrieving it from the Dead Timeline through the Shift Point in the Office.
After making this choice with Loretta, you won’t encounter any repercussions in the form of negative karma coming back to haunt you. The events surrounding USB Footage with Gwen later on have their own consequences, so if you’re intrigued, rest assured that this decision won’t impact those outcomes in any way.
What Happens If You Answer Loretta’s Questions
In dealing with this situation, responding to Loretta’s queries would likely lead to the most favorable result, even though it might not seem so at first, and rest assured, that’s perfectly okay.
When chosen, Max will hesitantly respond to Loretta’s allegations against Safi exploiting his mother’s status, followed by her inquiring if we’re aware of anyone who found this tactic unacceptable.
Here’s an intriguing part: Instead of posing this query to Loretta, you might want to direct it towards someone who has been with the university for a longer time, such as Vinh, Gwen Hunter, or Dr. Fayyad (Safi’s mother).
Feel free to pick whoever you prefer from this group, no need to fret about the consequences. However, keep in mind that after your selection, you might observe the chosen one becoming annoyed by Loretta’s sudden disturbances.
I selected Vinh as the best option since, you see, both Dr. Yasmin and Gwen are currently dealing with some problems. It didn’t feel appropriate to add to their struggles by sending a somewhat annoying reporter at this time.
Finally, rather than ignoring us, Gwen will empathize with us concerning Safi when we encounter her once more in Chapter 3 and urge us to investigate the legendary Manuscript.
