Lightning Will Hopefully Strike Twice for PS Plus in August 2025

In the upcoming weeks, PlayStation Plus members might have the chance to add another critically-adored game to their collection – ‘Blue Prince’. Previously, ex-PlayStation head Shuhei Yoshida lauded

Yoshida’s high praise for Blue Prince created a lot of excitement, and since it met those expectations when it was released, it strengthens the credibility of Yoshida’s views on upcoming games. Interestingly, another game that Yoshida has praised is going to be available on the Extra tier of PlayStation Plus soon, so keep an eye on your calendar if you’re a subscriber.

At Summer Game Fest, Yoshida singled out Sword of the Sea as his top pick among games showcased at Play Days event. Although this doesn’t hold the same weight as labeling Blue Prince a potential Game of the Year, it certainly piques the interest of PS Plus members. Starting on Tuesday, August 19, Sword of the Sea will be available for PS Plus Extra subscribers, so fans won’t have to wait long to see if it justifies the buzz.

Shuhei Yoshida Has Praised Sword of the Sea

For individuals unacquainted with the title, “Sword of the Sea” could be explained as an attractive fusion of the atmospheres found in “Journey” and “Tony Hawk”. In this game, players are allowed to traverse a lively environment, utilizing their hover-sword for both combats and navigation. The initial glimpses are quite stunning, yet we’ll have to wait and see if it meets its anticipations.

On August 19, “Sword of the Sea” joins PlayStation Plus, extending a run of three consecutive additions to the service, which began with “FBC: Firebreak” in June. While day one games aren’t a regular feature for PS Plus Extra, it’s wonderful news for subscribers that they received “FBC: Firebreak” in June, followed by “Abiotic Factor” in July, and now “Sword of the Sea” in August. As for September, we don’t have details yet whether it will feature a day one PS Plus Extra game or not. More updates on that front should be shared in a few months.
