Marvels Spider-Man Makes a Case for a Second Miles Morales Chapter

As a dedicated fan who has seen the evolution of Miles Morales from comic books to video games, I must say that the potential for another Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales game is not just desirable, it’s downright necessary. The first game was a breath of fresh air, and the second game, while excellent, felt like it didn’t quite give Miles the spotlight he deserved.

I’m thrilled about the recent update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but it seems like my hopes for an ongoing narrative adventure similar to The City That Never Sleeps DLC might need a rethink. Insomniac Games has shared that they have no additional story content planned for the sequel, which is a bit disappointing given my anticipation for such an experience. While there wasn’t concrete evidence suggesting Spider-Man 2 would have its own DLC, I had been hoping for one based on rumors and leaks. Regardless, it’s still a bummer to hear this news.

As a dedicated fan, it’s starting to feel like a long shot that Insomniac has or ever will be working on a Venom half-sequel. If they aren’t, there’s a lot of ground to cover for Spider-Man 3 to neatly tie up all the loose ends and deliver a satisfying conclusion. Given the amount of threads left hanging in Spider-Man 2 and the increasing importance of these “half-sequels” as standalone titles, it seems essential now more than ever. If any character is due for another half-sequel, it’s definitely Miles Morales.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 Might Run into Its Predecessor’s Problem with Miles Morales

Instead of focusing on another sequel for Miles Morales, it might make more sense to consider Cindy Moon’s Silk as a potential candidate. This is partly because there are indications that her role might be limited in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, and it would be important for her character development as a new web-slinger.

It’s concerning that Insomniac might introduce another Spider-character if the Marvel’s Spider-Man series is ending with its next main game. If they don’t have enough resources, time, or games planned to properly develop this new character, it would feel odd for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales to be a standalone half-sequel. Introducing another Miles Morales half-sequel could offer more opportunities to deepen his relationship with Hailey and let him act as the main protagonist, mentoring Cindy as a playable secondary character.

If Miles Morales doesn’t get another sequel, “Marvel’s Spider-Man 3,” there’s a chance he might be sidelined or underdeveloped like “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” did arguably do. It’s good that Miles had some closure regarding Martin Li, the man who was responsible for his father’s death, but it seems that his character isn’t as central to the larger storyline as Peter Parker’s is, at least not in the same significant way.

In the Marvel’s Spider-Man series, Miles Morales has been the main focus, but the storylines involving Norman Osborn and Otto Octavius have primarily revolved around Peter Parker, with minimal overlap into Miles’ subplots. The Green Goblin, hinted at since the beginning of the series, seems to have no direct link to the Osborn family, making it challenging to see how Miles could be part of that storyline, as there have only been a few exchanges between Miles and Harry Osborn.

A Second Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Game is What the Character Needs and Deserves

The character Miles Morales, the Spider-Man in question, leaves his story open-ended in “Miles Morales,” with no definitive plans for how his narrative might progress. This means that how he’s depicted or developed in “Marvel’s Spider-Man 3” could have significant implications if Miles doesn’t receive another standalone sequel first. The remaining clues for Miles are his growing fascination with music technology and his intriguing relationship with Cindy Moon. If these aspects aren’t delved into deeply in “Marvel’s Spider-Man 3,” it will be fascinating to see the impact a half-sequel had on Miles between “Marvel’s Spider-Man” and “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
