Summary

  • A fan artist shared Mega Evolution concepts for Feraligatr, Emboar, and Meganium, including new types and abilities.
  • Mega Evolution returns in Pokemon Legends: Z-A as the main battle mechanic.

A fan artist of “Pokemon Legends: Z-A” showcased their ideas for the Mega Evolution versions of Feraligatr, Emboar, and Meganium, the game’s starting creatures, on social media. This “Pokemon Legends: Z-A” fan artist additionally proposed new types and skills to complement their imagined Mega Evolution forms.

Back in the days of Pokemon X and Y, I came across this exciting battle feature called Mega Evolution. It’s a temporary transformation some Pokemon undergo, turning them into a Mega stage. This transition often results in a new look, and sometimes even changes their types and abilities. But here’s the catch – a Pokemon needs to hold a matching keystone item for this transformation, and it can only happen once per battle. After the launch of Pokemon Sword and Shield, Mega Evolution took a break, but it’s now back as the main mechanic in Legends: Z-A. Ever since, I’ve been fascinated by the creative Mega Evolution concepts that Pokemon fan artists have dreamt up for Pokemon like Clefable, which didn’t previously get one.

Even though there have been rumors about the Mega Evolution forms of Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s starters, an artist shared their interpretation of how these new forms might appear on Reddit (specifically r/Pokemon). A user named JJonnie posted illustrations of Mega Feraligatr, Emboar, and Meganium, along with details about their types and skills. Firstly, Mega Feraligatr maintains its Water type but adds Poison as a secondary one. The artwork depicts Mega Feraligatr’s jaw and spines in shades of purple, with luminescent bands encircling its limbs. Additionally, Mega Feraligatr has a special ability called Venom Eater, which functions like a Poison-type equivalent to abilities such as Flash Fire.

Pokemon Fan Artist Draws Mega Feraligatr, Emboar, and Meganium Concepts

Instead of retaining its Fighting secondary type, Mega Emboar was portrayed as a purely Fire-type Pokemon in a different depiction. This new version of Mega Emboar is shaped like an egg bomb, emitting fire from its entire body. When Mega Emboar faints, it can use the move Explosion thanks to its Super Aftermath ability. Contrary to rumors suggesting that Mega Meganium would be a Grass and Fairy dual-type in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, JJonnie opted for a different approach with the Herb Pokemon. In JJonnie’s concept, Mega Meganium is both Grass and Dragon-type, adorned with spiked petals on its eyes, neck, and tail. This unique design allows Mega Meganium to inflict severe damage on Steel Pokemon like Excadrill and Metagross using its City Wrecker ability. Fans of Pokemon praised JJonnie’s contributions, and many appreciated the distinctive design of Mega Emboar.

Among the much-awaited games slated for 2025, Pokemon Legends: Z-A stands out, with its upcoming features like Mega Evolutions and a potential Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. The imagination of Pokémon enthusiasts continues to run wild as they eagerly await the next exciting chapter in their beloved franchise.
