In the game “Metaphor: ReFantazio,” Maria stands out as one of the vital characters, particularly toward the latter stages. Her unique character trait revolves around the Healing role, which becomes indispensable in dealing with tough endgame bosses and formidable opponents due to its importance in ensuring survival.
Every strong party has a healer, so focusing on hitting max Bond Rank with Maria is important.
Reaching the highest level playing with Maria is generally straightforward, yet given the multitude of activities within the game, it’s quite possible to overlook checking back with her.

In the tale of Metaphor: ReFantazio, Maria, who is Arvid Alces’ daughter, encounters an untimely end for her character early on. As she grapples with sorrow and despair, she finds solace by forging a bond with the game’s main character.
Due to her unique upbringing within the Rhoag and Ishkia Tribe, Maria finds it challenging to bond with individuals her own age, which regrettably means she currently lacks any friends, residing at the Hushed Honeybee Inn under the care of Fabienne Vulpes.
As I level up my Bond Rank, I find myself growing more self-assured and self-reliant. Grieving the loss of my dad becomes a bit easier as I progress, making room for new experiences within this gaming world.
Maria’s Bond Ranks, Explained
Just like any other character in the game ‘Metaphor: ReFantazio’, I found myself embarking on a journey with Maria, who has eight stages to conquer to achieve the highest level. Fortunately, engaging with Maria began automatically on day ten and couldn’t be missed.
Advancing through Maria’s Bond levels requires you to finish certain optional tasks and present her with sketches depicting your character’s journeys.
During the course of the game, players find themselves effortlessly creating these sketches while they visit crucial spots during side missions, bounty hunts, and main storylines.
Achieving the top spot alongside Maria will grant you access to the Healer Archetype, an essential role for maintaining the health of your team during battles. Conversely, reaching eighth place (or rank 8) enables the Savior Elite Archetype.

As soon as Maria accumulates six out of ten points on the calendar, her first Bond level is automatically granted. Intrigued by her love for literature, the main character chooses to share with her a fantasy novel penned by More in Akademia, depicting an ideal society.
Maria expresses her disappointment over not getting to spend time with her father due to his constant work. As the protagonist listens empathetically to her struggles, a connection develops between them.

Achieving Bond Rank 2 with Maria necessitates finishing the “Promising Rewards” mission. This mission becomes accessible once you hit day 6/23 on the game’s calendar. On that specific day, your character will naturally wake up, and the quest will be automatically assigned to you.
Having successfully accomplished the Promising Rewards mission, I made my way back to the serene Hushed Honeybee Inn. Approaching the counter, I found Fabienne, a familiar face. In our conversation, I decided to opt for the “Let’s Make Maria Smile” dialogue choice, which necessitated a Tolerance level of at least 2.
In order to lift the protagonist’s spirits, Fabienne encourages them to spend a day with Maria in Grand Trad. During this time, Maria reflects on her father throughout the day.
In the narrative, Maria expresses her eagerness to view pictures of your journeys, thereby creating an opportunity within the game for you to discover sketches as part of the side missions and reward tasks.

Obtaining a Bond level 3 with Maria can be achieved by presenting her with the “Maria the Midnight Sunsands Drawing.” This unique item is obtained as a reward for visiting the Giant Sandworm’s Nest.
Once you’ve obtained the sketch, make your way to the entrance of the Hushed Honeybee Inn on the 2nd of July, where you will find Maria waiting outside.
Much like past Bond adventures featuring Maria, the duo finds themselves passing the day in Grand Trad. Here, Maria spots a young lad who seems to be encountering some difficulties.

Achieving Bond rank 4 with Maria is as simple as getting to day 7 out of 9. On that day, visit the Hushed Honeybee Inn and talk to Fabienne behind the bar. Opt for the “Sure, proceed” option to initiate the Bond mission.
In this place, there’s little left for me but to immerse myself in Maria’s heartfelt reflections on the possibility of Fabienne eventually parting ways with her.
In simpler terms, after coming back into the room, Fabienne comforts Maria by saying everything is fine and emphasizes their close bond, implying she considers Maria as if she were a daughter. It appears that Maria’s grief over losing her father has led her to doubt her value in the eyes of others.

Players can earn Bond rank 5 with Maria by presenting her with the “City Ruins” sketch, a piece obtained during the primary storyline upon visiting Port Brilehaven.
After handing over the sketch to Maria, she dedicates the entire day to seeking forgiveness from her father at the grand cathedral, expressing remorse for believing he had left her behind.
The main character encourages her by saying she can emulate her father by caring for others, for instance, by making them happy with a smile.

You can reach Bond rank 6 with Maria by presenting her with the “Peregrine Falls” sketch, a piece you obtain by venturing into the Tomb of Lament during the “Grieving Ghost of the Goblet” side mission. This specific mission becomes accessible once you take on the bounty at the Recruitment Center.
Maria requires assistance creating a sign, and Neuras seems like the ideal person for the task. So, they both go to the Gauntlet Runner to find him.
Fabienne is delighted by the gift and expresses her gratitude towards Maria, bringing a sense of joy to her. It’s been some time since she last felt joyful, so this is wonderful to hear.

To acquire Maria Bond’s rank 7, you need to progress to Tolerance rank 4 and present her with the “Prismatic Sea” sketch.
During the “Trial of Malnova” side quest, you can obtain the drawing by venturing to the Land of the Ceremony, a location that becomes accessible once Eupha joins your party.
After presenting Maria with the Prismatic Sea sketch, she expresses her desire to talk to the fragile boy she’d met earlier. It would be appropriate for you to consent to this conversation, as it triggers the beginning of the Bond sequence.
Instead of encountering the weak-bodied lad, they come across another youth instead. Maria manages to bond with him by displaying her sketches depicting the character’s journeys.

Through a thoughtful act by Maria, discussions ensue among the townspeople, Fabienne, and Maria. Surprisingly, their unusual traits become less noticeable to the locals due to this interaction.
In my gaming world, I, Maria, express gratitude towards the hero for discovering a means to let me find joy once more. As we part ways for now, I ask the hero to pledge again, promising to revisit me in the future.
