As an analyst with over two decades of experience in the tech and blockchain industry, I must say that this collaboration between LINE Messenger and Kaia is truly a game-changer. The launch of 30 Mini dApps in Q1 2025, accessible both through the Dapp Portal and directly from LINE Messenger, signifies a significant leap towards mainstream adoption of Web3 services.
In the upcoming months, the first group of 30 Mini apps, called Mini dApps, will launch on the Kaia (KAIA) blockchain. These titles can be accessed not only via the Dapp Portal but also directly within LINE Messenger. Additionally, the LINE ecosystem now boasts a custom-built software development kit.
First 30 Mini dApps debut in Q1, 2025: Titles announced
Collaborating with the Kaia Foundation, LINE NEXT chose thirty Mini Dapp projects under the Kaia Wave initiative for assistance. This initiative aims to help Web3 developers and eventually make their Kaia-enhanced Dapps accessible within LINE Messenger. The selected projects will be available on LINE Messenger by Q1 of 2025, allowing participants to showcase their products in this platform.

According to a joint announcement from LINE Messenger and Kaia, over 800 individuals submitted their games in September 2024 for a chance to secure spots within the program. In the first half of 2025, the initial 30 winners will be chosen, and more than 150 teams will receive support from the organizers. Further announcements are expected to follow.
Starting from Q1 2025, developers are expected to construct and release Mini Decentralized Applications (Dapps) that can either be integrated seamlessly into LINE Messenger or accessible via LINE NEXT’s Dapp Portal.
Youngsu Ko, the CEO of LINE NEXT, is confident that the fresh endeavor they’re embarking on will unveil groundbreaking ideas in the realm of GameFi and decentralized applications specifically.
LINE NEXT aspires to broaden the reach of Web3 services, considering the needs of both internet users, Web3 enthusiasts, and developers alike. Our strategy involves onboarding a vast array of Web3 Decentralized Applications (DApps) and growing our user community, with a particular focus on expanding in key regions such as Japan, Thailand, and Taiwan where LINE Messenger has a significant presence.
The distinctive Dapp Portal caters specifically to Kaia users, offering an opportunity to explore, download, and immediately utilize Decentralized Applications (Dapps) within the LINE Messenger platform. Additionally, this service provides incentives through rewards for usage and facilitates trading of virtual assets in the form of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs).
LINE NEXT unveils its SDK for next cohort of dApps
In the initial collection of projects at Dapp Portal, you’ll find a variety of games: Shin-chan’s Match Daily, a fun mini game inspired by the beloved animated series Crayon Shin-chan; Captain Tsubasa Rivals On LINE, a game adaptation from the widely known soccer manga Captain Tsubasa; and Heroic Arena, an interactive idle clicker Dapp that mimics the Animation, Comics, Game (ACG) style. Within this mini Dapp, players engage in battles using heroes within the captivating multiplayer online battle arena universe.
As a researcher, I’m excited to share that our portal will not only feature Web3 games but also host a variety of “serious” Web3 applications tailored for a practical real-world program. One such application is Superz, a healthcare and wellness Decentralized Application (Dapp) designed especially for Web2 users. This innovative platform effortlessly integrates fitness routines with tangible rewards, making health management more engaging and rewarding.
Dr. Sam Seo, Head of Kaia DLT Foundation, emphasizes that the introduction of Mini dApps on LINE opens up an entirely novel degree of accessibility and user-friendly features for beginners within the realm of Web3.
Kaia is devoted to developing a user-friendly, accessibility-focused Web3 infrastructure. We are thrilled to offer this easy-to-use Web3 service within the LINE messenger. Moving forward, Kaia plans to advance blockchain technology and services, aiming to speed up the global and especially Asian adoption of Web3.
Building on the announcement, LINE NEXT introduced their Software Development Kit (SDK), a versatile platform designed for businesses and projects to effortlessly construct and disseminate Mini Dapps aligned with the Kaia chain. The aim of LINE NEXT is to foster the widespread adoption of Web3 services by extending support not only to developers chosen by Kaia Wave, but also to those eager to develop Web3 applications.
