For now, some enthusiasts are relishing the beta phase, but the complete launch of “Monster Hunter Wilds” is yet a few weeks off. The upcoming addition to the Monster Hunter series drops on February 28th, and given that the Beta test has been leading Steam Charts, fans are thrilled. Indeed, sneak peeks at the game suggest several enhancements to features from previous Monster Hunter games, as well as innovative new play mechanics. With a fresh promotional offer before its release, it appears that collaborative DLC in Monster Hunter is here to endure.
The Monster Hunter series has engaged in multiple partnerships throughout its history, encompassing both video games and various brands. Some alliances, such as the appearance of monsters from series like Final Fantasy and Horizon, seem organic and are entertaining for fans of both Monster Hunter and those other titles. On the other hand, collaborations with brands for unique in-game items can be somewhat unexpected. For example, the 2007 Monster Hunter x Pizza Hut partnership offered players a code to unlock a weapon adorned with a giant pizza slice.
As Monster Hunter Wilds is set to launch fully towards the end of this month, the initial collaboration DLC for the game has already been unveiled. Similar to the massive edible weapon, it leans towards a culinary theme, but with a much sweeter and adorable twist.
Monster Hunter x Baskin Robbins Collab Revealed in Japan
Based on the recent promotional announcements, players in Japan have an opportunity to obtain a unique in-game weapon charm from Baskin Robbins. This charm showcases a Palico inside an ice cream cone that bears the Baskin Robbins logo. The charm is available in three distinct colors: mint chocolate chip, caramel, and strawberry.
In partnership with Baskin Robbins, the charm resembles the bonus item from the Open Beta, but instead of being loose, it’s nestled inside an ice cream cone. It appears that players will receive a genuine keychain version of this charm as well, enabling them to carry their mint chip Palico companion with them at all times in real life.
So far, it seems that the Monster Hunter Wilds collaboration with Baskin Robbins is exclusively available in Japan and is only playable on PS5. Japanese players can obtain the associated item from February 28th to March 31st, marking the game’s release celebration.

As a dedicated Monster Hunter fan, I find myself caught between excitement and concern regarding the potential global availability of the exclusive DLC collaborated with Baskin Robbins. On one hand, the thought of bringing this unique content to more countries is enticing, but on the other, there’s a nagging fear that this could set a precedent for region-specific and platform-exclusive promotions. Some players, like myself, aren’t keen on the idea of incorporating “fast food ads” into our gaming experience.
However, it’s important to note that region-exclusive rewards and fast food brand collaborations are nothing new in the Monster Hunter series. It’s just another chapter in the long history of this franchise that has always been innovative and diverse. Here’s hoping for a balanced approach that caters to all fans without compromising on quality or fairness.
Initially, this first promotional content is available only in Japan, hinting at potential future releases. Given that the new cooking system is a significant feature in ‘Monster Hunter Wilds’, it’s reasonable to expect additional food-related collaborations.
