Simultaneously with the launch of the Definitive Edition, NetherRealm Studios also rolls out an update for Mortal Kombat 1. This update includes character-specific modifications and changes to its kameo lineup. Ever since the last fighter from Kombat Pack 2 was introduced, fans have been curious about the future plans for Mortal Kombat 1, wondering how many more post-launch content and kombat packs could still be coming.
As an avid Mortal Kombat fan, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and curiosity about the rumblings surrounding Mortal Kombat 1. The ongoing turmoil within Warner Bros.’ gaming division and NetherRealm Studios’ apparent focus on their next big project have fueled speculations about the future of my favorite game. Initially, we were led to believe that Mortal Kombat 1 would enjoy years of support, but suddenly, Injustice 3 has taken center stage in the gaming community. However, despite these whispers, I’m heartened by the recent arrival of a new hotfix for Mortal Kombat 1, which brings more tweaks to the roster, keeping the game alive and well.
The primary focus of May’s update for many players lies in the character adjustments. Although the changes aren’t numerous, they aim to enhance a few characters such as Li Mei, by decreasing the number of frames for certain moves, amplifying the damage of less-used abilities, or, in Conan’s case, increasing his health pool slightly. The latest DLC character from Mortal Kombat 1, the T-1000, will experience some adjustments. These include a decrease in overall health, alterations to the hitbox of Sacral Spike outside a combo, a reduction in the damage of Axial Cross, and an addition of 2 extra startup frames for Liquiform Suplex during Amorphous Step.
In addition to the character transformations, another aspect of this fix involves tweaking the Kameo abilities. Several Mortal Kombat 1 supporting fighters have undergone some alteration, such as extending the duration for Kung Lao’s Orbiting Hat and Wobbly Orbit abilities. Sub-Zero, Darrius, and Frost were also subject to more significant adjustments, while others received health boosts or damage increases for specific moves, like Kano’s Using Your Noggin, which saw a 20 point enhancement.
A patch was released ahead of an update for Mortal Kombat 1 Definitive Edition, essentially offering the comprehensive version of the game that includes the base game, paid DLC, and all post-release content in a single package. The compilation also comes with Mortal Kombat movie skins for characters like Johnny Cage, Shao Khan, Kitana, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero, providing players with additional customization options. Nonetheless, some enthusiasts suspect that this launch implies NetherRealm might have finished working on the game, thereby potentially putting an end to speculation about Kombat Pack 3 and further post-launch content.
