As a longtime fan of both Mortal Kombat and Scream, I can hardly contain my excitement for the impending arrival of Ghostface in Mortal Kombat 1! The developers at NetherRealm have truly outdone themselves with their attention to detail, perfectly capturing the essence of the iconic slasher.

In preparation for the upcoming debut of Ghostface in Mortal Kombat 1, NetherRealm Studios recently unveiled additional gameplay footage featuring a new Fatality and showcasing their Animality. The iconic horror movie villain, Ghostface, from Scream, will be the inaugural guest DLC fighter in Mortal Kombat 1’s Kombat Pack 2. Originally appearing on the silver screen in 1996, Ghostface has become a beloved figure during Halloween celebrations ever since.

The developers at NetherRelm have meticulously planned for the introduction of horror icon Ghostface into the realm of Mortal Kombat, as evidenced by various gameplay trailers leading up to his addition on November 19th. Unlike his cinematic portrayals, Ghostface in Mortal Kombat 1 appears more centered around vicious stabbings and slashing attacks with their iconic knife. Many of Ghostface’s moves and entrances suggest the presence of multiple killers, a tribute to the multiple individuals who have worn the mask throughout the Scream films.

Recently, during the latest Kombat Kast livestream, fans got an in-depth look at the Ghostface character from Mortal Kombat 1. A chilling montage showcased gameplay footage, culminating in Ghostface executing a deadly Fatality on Sub-Zero. The scene opened with Ghostface slicing Sub-Zero’s throat and then brutally stabbing him to death. As the camera pulled back, an aggravated player could be seen futilely trying to regain control of the fight, only to be caught off guard by a second Ghostface. This unfortunate player turns out to be none other than Johnny Cage, who lamented his loss against “a guy with a knife” before falling victim to another surprise attack.

Ghostface Goes Meta With New Mortal Kombat 1 Fatality

In the latest unveiling prior to the DLC launch of Mortal Kombat 1, we’ve got the second Ghostface Fatality showcased. This fatality aligns flawlessly with Scream’s critique of horror films, as it portrays a player getting trapped in a game, mirroring their on-screen character’s fate. The initial Ghostface Fatality also echoed iconic kills from the Scream series, notably recreating the scene where Ghostface appears in Principal Himbry’s eye in the first movie, played by Henry Winkler.

In the game Mortal Kombat 1, Ghostface’s moves aren’t limited to causing fatalities; instead, his Animality is also showcased in the latest trailer. The return of animal-based finishers in the game Khaos Reigns was seen when Ghostface transformed into a buzzard and brutally extracted Geras’ internal organs. Players won’t have to wait too long to witness the entire gruesome scene, as Ghostface is scheduled to go live on November 19.
