As a seasoned adventurer who’s dabbled in countless jobs throughout the realm of Final Fantasy, I can confidently say that some jobs are more enjoyable than others. And let me tell you, dear reader, my life hasn’t been the same since I encountered these less-than-stellar jobs.
Job systems in Final Fantasy games are quite prevalent, and some titles allow players to swiftly change these roles, while others feature characters whose jobs are fixed, mirroring their personalities through their abilities. Generally speaking, the job options that players can experiment with in Final Fantasy tend to be quite engaging.
In some cases, exceptions can pose quite a challenge. It takes a lot of strategic thinking for players to turn these tasks into advantages, but considering the effort required and the ease of learning other roles, it might not be worth the hassle in the end.
8 Shikari
Features One Of The Weaker License Boards In The Series
In the game “Final Fantasy 12,” the License Board offers players an authentic feeling of advancement. Specifically in “The Zodiac Age,” players are given the flexibility to switch between multiple classes and progress distinctly on specialized License Boards for each job. Essentially, with a basic understanding of these roles, players can select a powerful combination that maximizes their chosen characters’ potential.
In contrast to other jobs in Final Fantasy 12, the Shikari role carries an important disclaimer due to its numerous restrictions. This job is somewhat constrained when it comes to magic and equipment options available to it. Furthermore, unlike other jobs, players cannot unlock all weapon licenses for the Shikari, which can be frustrating for some gamers.
7 Lady Luck
Relies On Luck To Be Effective

Any position that heavily depends on chance for success is hard to advocate for, and this holds true for the Lady Luck dressphere in Final Fantasy 10-2. Although it boasts attractive stats, the abilities of this dressphere involve unpredictable outcomes which can become challenging and frustrating to adapt to over time.
As a devoted player, I must admit that the most challenging aspect about Lady Luck lies in its unpredictable reels. A single dud can potentially deal a devastating blow, slashing my HP by an overwhelming 75% and even knocking out one of my party members through a chain attack. This unfortunate turn of events has left me defeated more than once, all because of the fickle hand of fate.
6 Bard
Good For Buffing Allies But Suffers From A Weak Defense

Many avid fans of the “Final Fantasy” series often express their dissatisfaction with the Bard job within the games. Players generally dislike this support role quite strongly, and a significant factor behind this sentiment was the joy felt when Edward permanently departed from the party in “Final Fantasy 4”.
It’s fortunate that Final Fantasy Tactics manages to make the Bard job useful in battles, although it’s not an ideal role to specialize in. The ability to provide party-wide boosts is beneficial, but the drawback is that a character with the Bard job is quite weak, making it relatively easy for enemies to defeat this team member.
5 Red Mage
Jack Of All Trades, Master Of None

At first sight, the Red Mage might appear as an ideal blend of abilities. They can wield both dark and light spells, and they can handle stronger weapons than the game’s specialized mages. However, gamers will eventually discover that this versatile character lacks a specific area of expertise by the end of the storyline.
In games where high-level magic is essential, it can turn into a distressing situation for players who lack both Black and White Mages within their team. These mages, though they possess slightly inferior magical abilities, are not particularly strong when it comes to dealing substantial physical damage as well. By the end of the game, even after job upgrades, they may prove to be largely ineffective.
4 Gambler
An Unpredictable Job That Can Be Hard To Rely On

In Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, many individuals might be delightfully astonished by the wide variety of jobs they can experiment with. Although the game may appear rough around the edges, it accurately represents the job system in its real-time action combat, and mastering it is quite rewarding.
As players progress through this game, they’ll gradually uncover a variety of jobs. However, the Gambler job may not be one that players frequently choose due to its inconsistent results. In a game where dealing damage is predictable, using Roulette can become frustrating because its outcomes are unpredictable and might lead players to seek out a more efficient job for the swift-moving battle system of Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin.
3 Freelancer
Gets Progressively Weaker Over The Course Of The Game Despite Its Proficiency With Weapons

In Final Fantasy 3, the gameplay innovation of enabling players to dynamically change their characters’ roles proved to be a major hit, contributing significantly to the series’ success. Players find immense enjoyment in the diverse array of roles they can choose, each capable of swiftly annihilating foes with ease.
The role that deteriorates as it progresses is the one initially assigned to all characters. Opting for freelancing isn’t perfect, and many players find themselves drawn towards utilizing its diverse gear choices until they decide to specialize in specific professions instead.
2 Berserker
The Inability To Control Party Members Is Always A Negative

In the game “Final Fantasy 5”, having a Berserker character can be quite engaging because players don’t need to worry about managing their attacks as they continuously deal physical damage to enemies. However, this job that specializes in one area may become tiresome quickly when players discover how ineffective it is against stronger opponents.
In some situations, a Berserker character from the party may struggle to utilize items when needed. This task might seem straightforward, but it’s worth exploring if you’re not committed to excelling at every role within the game “Final Fantasy 5”.
1 Dancer
Must Stay In The Front Row To Be Effective Despite Having Poor Stats

As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but be drawn towards the allure of the Earth Crystal’s remaining shard, knowing it’s the last piece we need to save our game world. The enticing jobs associated with this crystal shard are understandably tempting for players like me. Most of these abilities are a blast to employ, but I must confess, the Dancer job isn’t quite as enjoyable.
Although the Dancer role is crucial on the battlefield, its vulnerability to frequent enemy attacks due to poor stats and limited equipment choices can lead to significant damage. The Dance command, which has unpredictable effects, further solidifies the Dancer as one of the less effective jobs in Final Fantasy 5.
