A fresh life simulation game titled Neverway, developed by independent studio Coldblood Inc., has recently been announced for PC gaming platforms. This studio was co-founded by Pedro Medeiros, the talented pixel artist behind the hit game Celeste, and a collaborator on popular indie titles such as TowerFall. In Neverway, players assume the role of an ordinary girl who gains immortality through the demise of a deity. Unlike the mostly linear gameplay in Celeste, Neverway appears to employ a role-playing game (RPG) structure, featuring farming, fishing, crafting, building, and dating elements.
Celeste is often considered one of the top precision platformer games from the past ten years, earning accolades for its appealing pixel art design. In a similar vein, Coldblood Inc.’s first release, Neverway, appears to offer visually captivating elements, courtesy of the same talented artist. From what we’ve seen in the announcement trailer, the game seems to masterfully combine chilling visuals with an endearing aesthetic.
On April 10th, it was announced that the game titled “Neverway” is now up for pre-order on Steam for Windows, macOS, SteamOS, and Linux. Although a specific launch date has yet to be disclosed, the fact that its PC system requirements have been made public suggests that the game may soon be finished. The gameplay of “Neverway” seems inspired by popular comfort games, incorporating features like a dating system reminiscent of “Stardew Valley‘s”, with more than ten potential romantic characters to interact with, as well as a series of dungeons that the protagonist, Fiona, must conquer in order to repay her debt.
Neverway Is a Horror Life Sim with Role-Playing Elements
One fascinating aspect of the game Neverway lies in its emphasis on personalized player experiences through crafting and construction. It appears to blend RPG elements, such as spells, enhancements, and items, which shape a player’s interaction with the game world. Each possible relationship with an NPC could offer exclusive abilities to support the player’s adventure. Additionally, there seems to be a moral system similar to that of Lies of P, allowing players to decide between truthfulness and deceit in character interactions; however, the developer has yet to officially confirm this feature.
For those interested, the game titled “Neverway” is being crafted using the Murder Engine – an open-source pixel art ECS game engine developed by Isadora Sophia, a founding member of Coldblood Inc. The game has been financially supported by Outersloth Fund, a video game investment company backed by Innersloth, who are known for their work on “Among Us“. Eagle-eyed viewers of the announcement trailer may have noticed a subtle reference to “Among Us>” as the protagonist sports a Crewmate T-shirt. It’s important to mention that “Neverway” was the first title showcased during 2025’s Triple-I Initiative livestream, and further details about the game are anticipated in the coming months.
