In the upcoming action roguelike HellHeart Breaker, you won’t be able to repair broken relationships – you’ll actually be battling the people you once loved. Developed by BattleBrew Productions and planned for release in early 2027 on Steam, HellHeart Breaker takes inspiration from games like Hades 2, particularly in how characters interact. However, it offers a fresh experience on Steam, especially with its innovative approach to boss battles.
In HellHeart Breaker, you start in a visually striking Underworld inspired by 1920s Shanghai, reminiscent of Hades 2. You begin in a derelict bathhouse before venturing into Aashraya, the last city standing. The game centers around uncovering who you are, as you’re also burdened with a mysterious prophecy, but you’ll find connection and camaraderie with the diverse cast of characters. Aashraya acts as your home base, where you’ll return between each run in this roguelike adventure.
Fall in Love in Aashraya
Though not all characters have been announced yet, players of HellHeart Breaker can look forward to a cast full of surprises and intriguing personalities, including a Naga Princess, an Oni Blacksmith, a Kitsune Courtesan, and an Asuran enforcer. While exploring Aashraya, players will learn new skills and gain mastery over the elemental powers of the city’s various clans – and may even fall in love with one or more of them. To earn their favor, players must impress each Clan Scion, who all have their own unique backgrounds, problems, and motivations. Each clan genuinely wants to help the player regain their lost identity and escape the underworld, but the path to freedom isn’t so simple.
Players can join one of seven clans, each connected to a specific world, elemental skill tree, and set of weapons – there are 35 weapons in total. Be careful, though – crossing a clan member can have consequences!

Scorned Lovers Become the Boss Battles
In Aashraya, players will need to choose between potential partners, meaning some characters will be turned down. But rejection doesn’t just lead to sadness – each Monster Girl you date will give you new abilities, while those you reject will become challenging boss battles during your roguelike adventures. This clever mechanic adds depth to the gameplay and story, encouraging multiple playthroughs. Currently, the game, HellHeart Breaker, is planned to have 9 different endings.

While taking breaks between gameplay sessions, players can personalize their home in Aashraya and change their character’s appearance. The main character is available as both male and female options. Players can also explore different areas of the city, such as the fishing spot and the Food Market.
