A new sci-fi survival-horror first-person shooter is coming to Xbox Game Pass in 2027, developed by a well-established studio known for several smaller, popular games. Despite recent concerns about Xbox’s direction, the latest Xbox Partner Preview revealed many promising upcoming titles, giving fans plenty to be excited about.
The recent Xbox Partner Preview highlighted a great selection of games, including both new titles and older favorites. Several of these games are now available on Microsoft’s gaming subscription service for the first time, such as the highly anticipated release of Hades 2. However, the preview was particularly exciting because of the games coming soon, and one sci-fi horror first-person shooter really stood out.
Alien Deathstorm Is Rebellion’s Return to Aliens vs. Predator Form, and It’s Coming to Xbox Game Pass
Rebellion, the studio behind popular titles like Aliens vs. Predator, is creating Alien Deathstorm, a brand new first-person science-fiction horror game set to launch in 2027. Like their previous game, Atomfall, Alien Deathstorm will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one, offering great value for subscribers. While Atomfall wasn’t perfect, it proved Rebellion can deliver innovative survival experiences, and Alien Deathstorm appears to be a return to the studio’s roots in the sci-fi horror genre.
I’ve been following Rebellion Developments for a while now, and they’re best known for the Sniper Elite games. While they aren’t these massive, blockbuster AAA titles, Sniper Elite is consistently a really solid and enjoyable experience – it does its own thing and doesn’t fall into a lot of the traps bigger games do. It’s interesting to me that Sniper Elite shares some similarities with their older game, Atomfall, which makes me think that experience might influence how their new game, Alien Deathstorm, plays when it comes out in 2027. From what I’ve seen in the screenshots and gameplay footage, Alien Deathstorm looks like a seriously tense mix of the classic Alien vs. Predator and the newer Doom games. As an FPS fan, that combination has me really excited!

So, I was reading an interview with Ben Fisher, the design head at Rebellion, after their big preview event. He was talking about their new game, Alien Deathstorm, and how it builds on what they’ve done before. He described it as an ‘action horror’ game – think constant tension, exploring creepy environments, but with really solid gunplay. Apparently, it’s got all the stuff you’d expect from those classic horror FPS games – you play as this Combat Engineer who doesn’t say much, and it’s all about balancing that spooky feeling of discovery with intense firefights. Honestly, it sounds like a spiritual successor to some of the best Aliens vs. Predator games we’ve seen, which is awesome!
Okay, so Xbox Game Pass isn’t just about blasting aliens and surviving crazy space weather! They’re also adding some really cool, unique games – and I’m especially excited about Alien Deathstorm. It looks like Rebellion is going back to its roots with something that feels a lot like Aliens vs. Predator, which is awesome. The creatures in Deathstorm might not be exactly like the classic xenomorphs, but they still look terrifying and I think they’ll make for a fantastic enemy. Honestly, the preview showed a ton of interesting stuff coming to Game Pass, and I can’t wait to try it all!
