The upcoming survival horror game, Hear Tell of Hauntings, blends the atmosphere of Red Dead Redemption with the gameplay of Resident Evil. It features resource management, puzzles, exploration, and intense combat, all wrapped up with unique monster designs and a touch of RPG progression. If you enjoy games like Evil West, Damnation, Hunt: Showdown 1896, or even Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, this game could be for you.
Two Stamp Studios, an independent game developer based in Kalispell, Montana, is launching its first game, Hear Tell of Hauntings. Developed solely by CEO and 3D artist Sean Gause, with financial and musical contributions from Daniel Schlosser, the game was first shown in a trailer at the April 2025 Galaxies Showcase. The story follows Adelaide Clancy, a former outlaw and deputy, who investigates the disappearance of a sheriff after receiving a mysterious wedding invitation from a deceased couple, leading her to the eerie Wraith estate. Two Stamp Studios describes the game as a tribute to classic survival horror, heavily inspired by the original Resident Evil, particularly in its unsettling mansion and gameplay. Players may also recognize elements reminiscent of Red Dead Redemption.
What Hear Tell of Hauntings and Red Dead Have in Common
As a fan, I’ve noticed a really strong vibe from Red Dead Redemption in Hear Tell of Hauntings, especially in how it feels and the time period. The game is set in 1897 Montana, which is super close to the setting of Red Dead Redemption 2. The main character, Adelaide, totally feels like she could fit right into the Red Dead world with her outlaw personality. However, Hear Tell of Hauntings is a much more focused experience. Unlike the huge open world of the Red Dead games, this one mostly takes place in and around a single manor, which actually works perfectly for the spooky, Weird West horror they’re going for.
Hear Tell of Hauntings Wears Its Resident Evil Influences on Its Sleeve
While Hear Tell of Hauntings shares a similar mood with Red Dead, it’s more closely inspired by classic Resident Evil games. Like those titles, it focuses on carefully managing limited resources, solving environmental puzzles, and defeating enemies that require more than just strength. With its dark atmosphere, upgradeable weapons, and interconnected map design featuring shortcuts – reminiscent of Metroidvania games – Hear Tell of Hauntings will feel instantly familiar to fans of early Resident Evil.
Two Stamp’s first game doesn’t have a release date yet, and the developers haven’t even said when it might come out. However, they are still actively working on Hear Tell of Hauntings. In an update from early April 2026, the studio shared that they’ve made significant progress, including creating a unique inventory system that can hold oddly shaped items and completely rebuilding the character controls for the main character, Adelaide.

So, I’ve been checking out Hear Tell of Hauntings, and right now it’s confirmed to be coming out on PC through Steam. The good news is it doesn’t seem like it’ll need a super powerful rig to run – they’re saying 6GB of RAM, 8GB of VRAM, and a Core i5 or Ryzen 5 processor should be enough. Plus, it’s cool to see another game with a strong female lead – it feels like we’re seeing more and more of those these days, which is awesome!
