During their dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 presentation on Wednesday, all details about the upcoming console’s specifications and features were officially confirmed by Nintendo.
Over the past 18 months or so, there’s been a lot of chatter and guesswork surrounding the upcoming console. Following its initial unveiling of the console’s design in January, more details have emerged about the potential features of the Nintendo Switch 2.
Now, there’s an official answer for when the console launches on June 5.

Nintendo Switch 2 Features
The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a 7.9-inch, 1080p LCD display while maintaining the original console’s dimensions. This screen is equipped with High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology and can display up to 120 frames per second (FPS).
While connected, the console can display up to 4K resolution for compatible games that also feature High Dynamic Range (HDR) in TV mode. The updated dock incorporates an internal cooling fan to ensure optimal performance and temperature control when utilizing advanced system functions.
Switching over to the Joy-Con controllers, they are equipped with big SL/SR buttons and larger joysticks for easier handling. Additionally, it’s been verified that each Joy-Con can function as a mouse in certain games.
The system boasts a more adaptable kickstand design, and it sports USB-C ports on both its top and bottom. It comes equipped with 256GB of built-in storage. For extra storage needs, note that the latest console is only compatible with MicroSD Express Cards; standard MicroSD cards from the original Switch won’t work in this device.
Indeed, there’s been much speculation about the enigmatic “C” button. During their recent event, Nintendo officially announced that this versatile button will enable console-based chatting with other players online for the first time. Previously, users on the original Nintendo Switch had to rely on a third-party mobile app. Besides facilitating chat, the “C” button also enables screen sharing between players. However, it’s important to note that using this feature, called GameChat, requires a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online.
