Nintendo Switch 2 Will Get AAA Games At Launch, It’s Claimed

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can tell you that the Nintendo Switch revolutionized portable gaming and brought us some truly iconic titles. However, one thing it lacked was the presence of AAA games from third-party studios. So, hearing about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and its potential for big launch window releases from these developers has me absolutely thrilled!

Upon the debut of the Nintendo Switch in 2017, it seemed there was a lack of AAA games within its game library. While it boasted significant first-party titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, it lacked offerings from larger third-party creators. However, with the imminent release of the Nintendo Switch 2, there appears to be a change in the landscape of games available for players.

As reported by Paul Gale, the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to feature a substantial lineup of high-profile games from external developers during its launch period. Notably, these will include several major (AAA) titles.

“[Nintendo Switch 2] will have some early, significant ports, parallel releases, and exclusives.”

As far as what those AAA games on the Nintendo Switch 2 could be, that’s anyone’s guess.

It’s anticipated that Nintendo will unveil their upcoming console around early 2025, with a tentative launch slated for March 2025. Recent whispers about the device suggest it may offer backward compatibility and boast 4K graphics.
