Nintendo To Sell 20 Million Switch 2 Units This Year
According to sources at Bloomberg, Nintendo is planning to ramp up production of the Switch 2 in the coming months.
Nintendo is requesting that its manufacturing partners increase production of the Switch 2, anticipating continued strong demand through the holidays and into next year. Sources say that while assembly began around the end of 2024, the final production numbers could change based on how well the console sells during the important holiday shopping period.
The report also noted that Nintendo increased its marketing budget to reach more potential customers with the Switch 2. This has coincided with rising stock prices, suggesting the company is continuing to thrive since the Switch 2’s release on June 5th.
Reports suggest the Nintendo Switch 2 faced multiple delays before its release. Nintendo apparently kept postponing the launch to ensure the handheld console met their high standards.
A recent patent filing indicates that Nintendo DS games could be playable on the upcoming Switch 2. The patent details a method for adapting the dual-screen gameplay of the DS to the single screen of the new console.
