Summary
- A player saved the Emperor in Oblivion Remastered.
- The Emperor responded by being rude when the player tried to talk to him.
- Under normal circumstances, it is not possible to save the Emperor.
A player of the remastered version of “Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion” successfully rescued the Emperor, yet received little appreciation in return. The beginning of “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion” is one of the most striking openings in any Bethesda game. At the start, players are imprisoned, but they soon discover hidden passageways while accompanying the Emperor and his guards on a mission to save him from Mythic Dawn assassins.
Usually, the death of the Emperor in the game ‘Oblivion’ is unavoidable since it triggers the series of events that form the game’s main storyline. If the Emperor were not to die, the narrative sequence of ‘Oblivion Remastered’ would seem illogical. However, players have been trying their best to save the Emperor over the years, with one player managing a successful rescue attempt recently. Regrettably, it appears that the Emperor was less than thrilled about being spared from death.
Reddit user Tylray successfully rescued the Emperor in ‘Oblivion Remastered’ by slaying his assassin and escorting him out of the sewers. Upon leaving the underground, the Emperor’s dialogue options transformed. When Tylray inquired about the rumors, the Emperor retorted brusquely, “I don’t care for you and have no wish to converse with you.” It appears that these additional lines were spoken by Wes Johnson instead of Patrick Stewart, who typically voices the Emperor, but Johnson also provides voices for various characters within ‘Oblivion’ and other Bethesda productions.
Emperor’s Reaction to Being Saved in Oblivion Remastered
As a devoted enthusiast of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, I’ve come to realize that the typical limitations don’t always apply. Modifications, or mods for short, have an extraordinary ability to unlock new possibilities. For instance, some outstanding Oblivion Remastered mods enhance the gaming experience by incorporating practical additions such as skipping the sewer tutorial where the Emperor perishes and a horse whistle that summons your steed straight to your current location. Other mods enrich the game content, like the one that prolongs the Dark Brotherhood quest beyond its usual ending point.
It’s likely that we’ll see an abundance of mods for the remastered version of Oblivion given Bethesda’s previous games. The coming months should be exciting as we discover more innovations from the Oblivion Remastered modding community. In the interim, developers within the modding community are busy crafting an extensive modification for Skyrim, which aims to recreate Oblivion in a way that aligns more closely with its successor, Skyrim. This project, called Skyblivion, is expected to be released in 2025 and will encompass all content from the original Oblivion and its expansions, as well as various enhancements.
