- T-posing glitches in Oblivion may occur due to models not triggering correct animations, reverting to default poses.
As a devoted fan of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered, I recently encountered an unusual glitch with one of the Skeletons in-game. Instead of the usual combat stance, it T-posed, adding a touch of humor to my adventure. This amusing mishap sparked quite a response from the Oblivion Remastered community, who’ve been sharing their jokes and thoughts on this peculiar bug ever since.
The remastered version of Oblivion has become a massive success, having sold more than four million copies so far. Despite years of speculation, there was no additional promotion needed for the game to sell strongly, and players are delighted to revisit or experience Cyrodiil for the first time. Nevertheless, while the game’s visuals and gameplay have been highly commended, it still isn’t free from some strange bugs.
In the game, a user named Tawoorie recounted an amusing incident where they inadvertently made a Skeleton strike a T-pose during combat. The battle was against the Nether Lich’s Skeleton Hero, and their Hand to Hand Mastery ability activated, disarming the Skeleton. As soon as its weapon was taken away, the Skeleton began T-posing in front of the player. Regrettably, no video was shared, but a humorous screenshot was taken showing the Skeleton gazing at them while T-posing.
Oblivion Players Express Amusement at T-Posing Skeleton Glitch
Many viewers have reacted to the post, finding humor in the glitch and coming up with amusing remarks. Some believe the Skeleton was asserting its superiority by adopting the T-pose stance towards the player, while twitter user ‘tawooorie’ pointed out that the Skeleton disappeared not long after the screenshot was taken. Others have shared their own experiences, indicating that this T-pose glitch isn’t exclusive to just Skeletons or even enemies in total. One fan mentioned encountering it with Wraith summons, while another reported witnessing Jauffre doing it shortly following a fight. Another gamer stated they had also disarmed a Skeleton in this manner, but instead of T-posing, it picked up a secondary weapon, yet was unable to effectively utilize it.
If you’re wondering why this issue is occurring, it appears that the models are struggling to play the right animations. Typically, game models are set in a T-pose when they are created, and if a game fails to instruct the model on which animation to play, it may revert to this default pose or a basic idle animation instead. In this scenario, it seems that the programming for the Skeleton’s hand-to-hand combat animations didn’t function properly when disarmed. It’s unclear whether the despawning was caused by the glitch itself, the Lich de-summoning it, or if the Lich was defeated.
