Players of ARC Raiders are asking Embark Studios to adjust Stella Montis so it’s easier to see. Some areas of the map are nearly impossible to play, particularly for those with OLED monitors that display true black. While a darker version of the map is intended for night raids, the regular version sometimes appears just as dark, making it hard to distinguish anything. Players would like a clearer distinction between the standard and night raid versions of the map.
When ARC Raiders first launched, night raids were a key feature, letting players earn twice as much XP and better loot. However, these raids were more challenging due to increased ARC enemy activity and poor visibility. Since then, the game has added several other map conditions, including the recent additions of Hurrice and Close Scrutiny. Close Scrutiny introduces the Vaporizer, a powerful new ARC enemy that’s quickly become one of the game’s biggest threats.
ARC Raiders Players Think Stella Montis Is Too Dark
Players are reporting a frustrating issue with the map Stella Montis in ARC Raiders. While night raids are meant to be darker, some players are experiencing extreme darkness even when they haven’t selected that mode. This is especially problematic because a darker map is already available as an option. The limited visibility is making parts of the map nearly unplayable, particularly for those using OLED monitors, which display very deep blacks and can obscure important visual details.
I’m seeing a lot of complaints from other players about how dark the Stella Montis map is in ARC Raiders, and honestly, I agree! It’s not just me – people are posting screenshots on the subreddit showing how hard it is to see during daytime raids. One player said daytime raids shouldn’t be this dark, and another pointed out it’s actually darker than the night raids, which is super weird and frustrating. Someone else said they couldn’t see a thing, even using their flash, and a lot of us just think it’s way too dark to really enjoy the game.
Currently, ARC Raiders doesn’t have an in-game option to adjust brightness. However, players have been trying to find ways around this. Before a recent update, many used NVIDIA Filters—a feature for NVIDIA graphics card users—to control brightness, gamma, and other visual settings. The developers, Embark, removed this option because they believed it gave some players an unfair advantage. While some players still try adjusting brightness through the NVIDIA Control Panel, it’s not as effective as the original NVIDIA Filters were.

As a big fan of ARC Raiders, I’m loving how often Embark is updating the game! They’re putting out smaller fixes every Tuesday, which is great for squashing bugs and tweaking things like weapon balance. And it sounds like they’re actually listening to us players – there’s a good chance they’ll adjust the brightness of Stella Montis soon, since a lot of us have been asking for it! They’ve said bigger content drops come at the end of each month too, so there’s always something to look forward to.
