Chapter 1182 of One Piece came out on May 10, 2026, in issue 24 of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. In this chapter, creator Eiichiro Oda continued to build the rich history of the One Piece world by introducing a new powerful being called Rain God Zaza. The series is known for its incredibly strong Gods, and Oda is revealing them one by one as the story reaches its climax. He previously confirmed the existence of the Sun God Nika in chapter 1044 during the Wano Country Arc, and also introduced Niddhoggr, the God of War of Elbaf, and Nerona Imu, who is considered a Devil God.
The latest chapter of One Piece, chapter 1182, finally revealed the Rain God, a character hinted at during the Skypiea Arc. It seems the series previously gave clues about who possesses the Rain God Devil Fruit, and it’s highly probable that it’s Monkey D. Dragon, Luffy’s father and the Supreme Commander of the Revolutionary Army.
One Piece Chapter 1182 Finally Introduces The Rain God Zaza After Being Name-dropped In Chapter 287
Chapter 1182 of One Piece continues to expand the rich backstory of the Elbaph arc. Following the introductions of Loki as the God of War and Nerona Imu as a Devil God in earlier chapters, the latest installment revealed yet another deity: the Rain God Zaza. This new God appeared within the dream sequences of Saint Killingham, a remarkably strong Holy Knight. Killingham possesses the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Kirin, a Devil Fruit that allows him to create and show both dreams and nightmares, even his own. His powers were greatly amplified in Chapter 1180 by Nerona Imu’s Omen, allowing him to manifest something as powerful as a God like Zaza.
We grew up in a sky-high land, far above the clouds. Rain was something we were taught to fear! After stories of the people of D and Nika, the biggest warning we received was about a monster in the world below called the Rain God – a being that would simply pour water on you! — Saint Killingham on Rain God Zaza, One Piece Chapter 1182
Killingham summoned the Rain God Zaza after hearing stories about him throughout his childhood. Zaza is feared by all the Celestial Dragons because he can unleash devastating rains and floods, capable of submerging entire islands. This makes Zaza an incredibly powerful being with the potential to destroy the world. Similar to Luffy’s Sun God Nika ability, Zaza’s power is believed to be contained within a Devil Fruit somewhere in the One Piece world – the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza – granting its user immense strength.
How Monkey D. Dragon Was Teased To Hold The Power Of Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza
In One Piece, the true identity of the Rain God Zaza remains a mystery, but author Eiichiro Oda has been dropping hints, as he often does. Currently, the most popular theory is that Monkey D. Dragon, the leader of the Revolutionary Army, possesses the power of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza. Dragon first appeared in chapter 100 during the Loguetown Arc, and his arrival was accompanied by dramatic rain clouds. In fact, Nami noted in chapter 98 that a huge change in air pressure signaled the approaching storm, and Dragon appeared soon after amidst heavy rainfall.
Something’s changing in the air… the pressure is falling fast. It feels like a storm is brewing! — Nami, sensing Dragon’s arrival, One Piece Chapter 98
Dragon also caused a massive storm that destroyed Loguetown, all to ensure Luffy could escape Smoker and begin his journey. Once Luffy was safe, the storm calmed, and Dragon’s face was seen for the first time ever.
A fascinating detail appears in chapter 100 of the series: Eiichiro Oda uses the onomatopoeia “Zaaaaaa~” when Dragon is first shown. This is strikingly similar to how he presented the Sun God Nika’s smile with “Nika~” in chapter 1043. This deliberate choice strongly suggests that Dragon is connected to the Rain God, Zaza, and is a significant clue from the author.
Eiichiro Oda subtly hinted at Dragon’s powers when he extinguished the fires at Grey Terminal in chapter 587. Dragon used wind to create a safe path through the flames, but the fires were also completely put out—Oda didn’t show how. It’s likely Dragon used a Devil Fruit ability, possibly related to weather or rain, to save the people there. Now that the story is focusing on the Revolutionary Army’s fight against the World Government, we’ll probably see Dragon’s full powers revealed soon.

Other Candidates For The Power Of The Rain God Zaza
Although Dragon is currently the most likely candidate to possess the powers of the Rain God Zaza, it’s important to remember that others could potentially have this ability as well. Nami, from the Straw Hat Pirates, is a popular suggestion, even though she doesn’t currently have a Devil Fruit power. She’s known for her potential to control the weather, particularly rain, and gaining this power would make her incredibly strong. However, it’s unlikely the author would give her this ability, as it could disrupt the balance of the crew. Vivi is another strong possibility, especially if the Rain Goddess from the past was Nefertari Lily. This would allow her to inherit the power and potentially play a crucial role in the final arc of the story.
The Man with the Burn Scar is another strong candidate for possessing a powerful ability. The recent chapter of One Piece (Chapter 1081) confirmed he can create whirlpools strong enough to sink ships, hinting at control over water – a skill similar to the Rain God’s. The story will soon reveal who actually has the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza ability, and fans are eagerly anticipating the reveal.
