The One Piece anime is leaving the Block Kingdom behind and heading towards the actual Elbaph. In the latest episode, Luffy and his crew fought against the Sun God, who attempted to capture and punish them for what he considered their wrongdoing.
The most recent episode of One Piece revealed who the mysterious “Sun God” really is: just a giant with a strange pastime. A quick flashback showed that the entire crew of the Thousand Sunny fell asleep while sailing through the Sleeping Mists. That’s when the Sun God’s crow intervened, carrying the ship to him.
The Straw Hat Pirates Finally Escaped The Sun God
In episode 1159, the crew was fleeing from the Sun God. Once Luffy tamed the cat and made it obey him, they all climbed onto its back and began figuring out how to escape. Nami remembered the way, so she led the group as they put their plan into action.
As we learned from the flashback, the so-called Sun God was actually just a giant, and he was connected to the New Giant Warrior Pirates. This pirate crew is led by Hajrudin, who previously pledged his loyalty to Luffy during the events in Dressrosa. The giant wasn’t happy with Hajrudin’s choice, adding to his resentment towards Luffy.

As the episode neared its end, Nami called upon Zeus, using his powers to deliver a crushing attack that took down the Sun God. Immediately after, Luffy transformed into a smaller version of Gear Fourth and punched through the wall, allowing the Straw Hats to escape the Block Kingdom.
One Piece Episode 1160 Release Date
Episode 1160 of One Piece is scheduled to premiere on May 3rd, 2026. The episode, titled “An Encounter on a Snowfield – Loki, the Accursed Prince,” will center around Luffy meeting Loki, a character known as the Accursed Prince. The preview suggests Luffy has moved ahead of his crew and will likely be the first to encounter Loki. True to form, it seems Luffy won’t be fazed by Loki’s troubled history.
Loki was introduced during the Whole Cake Island storyline, where it was revealed Big Mom had arranged for him to marry Lola. However, Lola fled to avoid the marriage, causing the arrangement to fall apart. This was a significant setback for Big Mom, who believed the marriage would have paved the way for her to find the One Piece and become the Pirate Queen.
Episode 1160 of One Piece will introduce Loki, giving viewers their first look at his character and a hint of his playful, possibly troublesome, personality. While it’s too early to make a firm judgment, he appears quite mischievous. The episode title hints that the people of Elbaph aren’t fond of him, and seeing him in chains suggests he caused significant problems there. It will also be interesting to see if the rest of the Straw Hat crew sticks with Luffy, or if they prioritize reuniting with their separated crewmates, as they haven’t seen each other in a while and will likely want to check on everyone’s well-being.
You can watch One Piece Episode 1160 on Crunchyroll and Netflix. It will initially be released with Japanese audio and English subtitles only.
