One Piece Episode 1160 Review: Luffy Meets Loki

The One Piece anime is starting to get really exciting as it moves into the best parts of the Elbaph story arc. Episode 1160 generated a lot of buzz because the preview showed the first look at Loki, a notorious prince from Elbaph.

The character had been talked about in previous episodes, but this was the first time viewers actually saw him. So, it makes sense that his appearance was the biggest focus of discussion in the latest One Piece episode, and we’ll be covering it thoroughly in this review.

Luffy Meets Loki For The First Time

Having escaped the Block Kingdom, Luffy and his crew came across a huge rope bridge and continued forward to see what was on the other side. Halfway across, Luffy heard a growling sound and decided to investigate, jumping down to find the source. He told the others to continue on without him while he went to check it out.

While walking along, Luffy was suddenly confronted by a pack of wolves, but they retreated when someone let out a piercing scream. The brief scare didn’t bother Luffy at all, and he continued his journey. Soon, he encountered Loki, who boldly announced his plan to destroy the world and identified himself as the Sun God.

Interestingly, Loki isn’t the first character in the Elbaph arc to claim to be the Sun God. The giant who built the Block Kingdom previously pretended to be the Sun God, attempting to deceive everyone. Loki’s claim adds another layer of mystery, and it looks like we’ll be learning more about the Sun God’s story during this arc.

Is Loki The Bad Guy?

Luffy found Loki imprisoned, which suggests he’s likely not a trustworthy character. Members of the Giant Warrior Pirates also spoke poorly of Loki, describing him as someone who craves power and enjoys causing trouble. Considering everything, it’s reasonable to wonder if Loki is truly evil.

Simply put, it’s unlikely. One Piece is known for surprising twists – characters often appear villainous initially, only to reveal good intentions. This suggests Loki might be wrongly accused, and the rumors against him are probably overblown. But, we’ll have to wait and see, as the truth won’t be revealed immediately.

Other Standout Moments From One Piece Episode 1160

The newest One Piece episode showed the updated bounties for Dorry and Brogy. Because they participated in the events on Egghead Island, the World Government raised their bounties to 1.8 billion berries each, portraying them as threats. Surprisingly, the Straw Hat crew didn’t receive any new bounties, despite the World Government claiming Luffy killed Dr. Vegapunk, the world’s most brilliant scientist.

The latest episode clarified that the rest of the Straw Hat crew, who were with the Giant Warrior Pirates, aren’t going to search for Luffy and his group. They trust their friends can handle whatever comes their way, so they’ve decided to wait in Elbaph. This makes sense, considering Luffy is a Yonko and his powerful allies are with him – most people wouldn’t risk crossing them. The episode also revealed that Hajrudin is actually a prince of Elbaph, leaving fans wondering why someone of royal status would leave their homeland for so long.

This episode was fantastic. Although it wasn’t filled with action, it revealed some key story information. Let’s hope the anime continues at this strong pace.
