Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is increasingly exploring the concept of Gods in its current, final story arc. Starting with the introduction of the Sun God Nika in the Wano arc, the story has continued to build this mythology, and it’s now reaching a peak in the Elbaph arc.
Fans have learned that many powerful beings, referred to as Gods, exist within the world of One Piece. Some of these Gods played a role in the events of the distant past, known as the Void Century, while others are still alive today and are actively shaping events, potentially leading to a massive war.
6. Sea God
I’ve been following the story of One Piece, and the ‘Sea God’ is a really intriguing figure. It was first mentioned as someone who lived way back in the Void Century – a lost period of history. It’s pretty clear now that the ‘Sea God’ refers to Poseidon, one of the Ancient Weapons. Apparently, the original Poseidon was a Mermaid Princess who was a contemporary of Joy Boy during the Void Century. And according to current events, the mermaid princess Shirahoshi is believed to be the one fulfilling the prophecy.
Strongest Technique: Sinking The World
Poseidon’s full power remains a mystery, but it’s immense, particularly in the water-covered world of One Piece. Poseidon can control all the Sea Kings – massive creatures that number in the millions – allowing them to potentially sink islands or even destroy the entire world on command.
5. Rain God Zaza
The Rain God was first mentioned in the One Piece manga during the Skypiea arc. In chapter 287, Mousse spoke of a Rain God her people worshipped, but its true nature remained unknown until very recently, in chapter 1182. Thanks to Killingham’s Devil Fruit power and his fear of Zaza, fans got a glimpse of this powerful being – one that even the Celestial Dragons fear.
Strongest Technique: Rain and Floods
The Zaza currently appearing on Elbaf isn’t the real Rain God – it’s just a weaker, nightmare-like copy created by Killingham. The true Zaza is far more powerful. However, this current version does offer a glimpse of her abilities. As the Rain God, Zaza is a significant threat to Devil Fruit users, as she can manipulate rain and floods to her advantage. She can use water to trap and drown opponents, and has even managed to defeat and harm Giants.
4. War God of Elbaf
I’m absolutely fascinated by the War God from the world of One Piece! This incredible deity is worshipped by the people of Elbaph, and the name first popped up way back in the Little Garden arc – it was Dorry and Brogy who mentioned him! But things are really heating up now in the Elbaf arc, especially chapter 1175. From what we’ve learned, this War God – who might be named Douzan – was a seriously powerful figure from the Void Century. We’re talking someone who actually fought the Sun God! And he wasn’t a lone wolf either; he always had his trusty companion, Ratatoskr, by his side. It’s amazing to think that today, Loki somehow possesses both the War God’s legacy and the power of Ratatoskr!
Strongest Technique: Thorheim
The War God of Elbaf has only appeared briefly in a flashback, making him largely unknown. However, his most powerful attack is likely the same as Loki’s strongest attack – Thorheim – and utilizes the same Devil Fruit, the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr. To perform Thorheim, the War God fully transforms into his dragon Zoan form, Niddhog. This allows him to unleash a devastating lightning beam. Loki used this attack against Imu, but Imu was able to defend against it.
3. Joy Boy
Joy Boy was a legendary figure from nearly a century ago who shares a connection with Luffy. Like Luffy, he ate the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, a Devil Fruit that allows its user to transform into the Sun God when fully mastered. Joy Boy was incredibly powerful, with even a small display of his Haki being enough to overwhelm the world government’s leader, Imu. Few characters in the One Piece world could match his strength.
Strongest Technique: Gear 5
Joy Boy possessed an incredibly powerful Conqueror’s Haki, strong enough to defeat all five Elders, but his true strength lay in the Nika Devil Fruit. Awakening this fruit likely granted him abilities similar to Luffy’s Gear 5, but even more potent and refined. Like Luffy, Joy Boy’s awakened form probably gave him the power to create whatever he could imagine, and potentially even allowed him to master a godly level of power – a ‘god ring’ – through complete mastery.

2. Nerona Imu
Imu currently rules the world, but he’s an incredibly ancient figure in the One Piece story, dating back to the time of the Void Century. He was a contemporary of Joy Boy and has always been exceptionally powerful.
Imu gained god-like power through a Devil Fruit, allowing him to rule the One Piece world ruthlessly. Eight hundred years ago, even Joy Boy couldn’t defeat him. Some theories suggest Imu might be connected to the Earth God, but this hasn’t been proven yet.
Strongest Technique: Omen and Domi Reversi
Imu is currently the strongest character in the story, and his abilities are incredibly dangerous. While his Haki is formidable, it’s his Devil Fruit powers that truly set him apart. Two of his most impressive abilities are Omen and Domi Reversi. Omen, sometimes called Maki, is a dark, flame-like power that acts as the opposite of Haki, allowing Imu to inflict massive damage, protect himself, and even enhance his allies, like Super Sommers and Super Killingham. Domi Reversi is another powerful technique that can turn almost anyone into a demon under his control – it even worked on someone as strong as Xebec.
1. Forest God
Among the Gods of the Second World, the Forest God remains the most enigmatic. Though referenced by name in One Piece chapter 1138 and by a Shandia village elder 400 years ago in chapter 287, their significance during the Void Century, actual identity, and abilities are still unknown. The full story of the Forest God will be revealed in the final part of the One Piece series.
Strongest Power: Demon Control
Details about the Forest God are scarce, but a recent One Piece chapter (1138) offered a small clue: it apparently has the power to control demons. This has led some fans to speculate it might be Imu, though that seems improbable. Instead, the Forest God might be able to counteract Imu’s Domi Reversi ability, or even be responsible for creating Devil Fruits.
