In the world of One Piece, Devil Fruits are the main source of power, and they come in three main types: Paramecia, Zoan, and Logia. The series creator, Eiichiro Oda, has consistently introduced incredibly powerful Devil Fruits, especially as the story has progressed into its final arc, beginning August 29, 2022.
Chapter 1183 of One Piece, released on May 24, 2026, revealed details about a powerful Devil Fruit with the unique ability to negate other Devil Fruit powers. This fruit, called the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza, is a God-level Devil Fruit that was recently shown during the Elbaf arc.
One Piece’s Rain God Zaza Power Holds The Potential To Cancel Out All Abilities
For a long time, the only Devil Fruit ability known to negate other powers in the world of One Piece was Blackbeard’s Yami Yami no Mi. This fruit first appeared in chapter 441 of the manga, published in Weekly Shonen Jump on January 22, 2007.
The Yami Yami no Mi is considered the most powerful and dangerous Devil Fruit in the One Piece world. It allows the user to control darkness, absorbing anything nearby – even light – and becoming intangible. Most importantly, it can steal the powers of other Devil Fruit users simply by touching them, effectively canceling out their abilities and making the Yami Yami no Mi user incredibly formidable in battle.
“You won’t be able to defeat me. This power is legendary – considered the most formidable ability there is. It’s made me the strongest fighter there is!” – Blackbeard to Ace (One Piece, Chapter 441)
I recently learned that Eiichiro Oda has introduced another Devil Fruit with a unique ability – the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza. It first appeared in Chapter 1182 of One Piece, released on May 10th, 2026, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. This fruit belongs to a character called the Rain God Zaza, and its power is to negate other Devil Fruit abilities. Apparently, the Rain God can unleash torrential rain, flooding entire villages in just minutes, as we saw in chapters 1182 and 1183. The flooding itself is how the fruit cancels out other powers – people drown, and that seems to be the key to neutralizing Devil Fruit users.
We’ve only seen a limited version of Rain God Zaza’s abilities – specifically, its power to cause drowning – in chapters 1182 and 1183 of One Piece. There’s a much more powerful version of the Zaza fruit already established in the One Piece world. This means the true Rain God Zaza is far stronger than what we’ve seen so far, and could potentially cause devastating floods capable of wiping out entire countries.
The introduction of the Zaza Fruit means One Piece now features two Devil Fruits that can nullify other powers. One is held by Blackbeard, and the other is either waiting for someone to eat it in the final part of the story, or is currently possessed by a mysterious character – a development that adds a thrilling new layer to the series.
The Zaza Devil Fruit’s Nullifying Powers Make It Feared Among The Celestial Dragons
Very little is known about Rain God Zaza and their history during the Void Century. What we do know is that all Celestial Dragons are afraid of them. This fear stems from the fact that Zaza exists above the clouds, representing a force beyond their control – something like a devastating natural disaster. The Rain God, known for bringing torrential downpours and massive floods, is a significant source of their fear.
Saint Killingham, from One Piece chapter 1182, described growing up in a place so high above the world that rain was a terrifying myth. Like a boogeyman used to scare children, they were warned that below them lived a creature called the Rain God, who would pour water down on anyone below.
This fear probably comes from a long-standing hatred. The Rain God Zaza is an enemy of the Celestial Dragons, and both Saint Killingham and Sommers have confirmed that the Dragons fear Zaza just as much as they fear people with the ‘D.’ initial and the Sun God Nika. While the specifics of their past conflict are currently unknown, it likely happened during the Void Century, considering they were once enemies.
“Sommers, I made a mistake! I summoned the wrong creature! I acted too rashly, and now I’m worried about the consequences!” — Saint Killingham, One Piece Chapter #1182
Similar to Nika, the Sun God, the Rain God Zaza is expected to appear before the major war that’s coming after the events in Elbaf – and fans are highly anticipating it. Zaza has an incredible ability: they can flood areas to control the battlefield and weaken other Devil Fruit users, making them a key figure in what’s to come.

Why The Devil Fruit-Cancelling Power Of Rain God Zaza Will Be Key In The Battle Against Nerona Imu
The One Piece manga is currently at a thrilling point in the Elbaf Arc. Chapter 1183 continued the intense fight between Nerona Imu and Loki, and also showed us the start of Brook’s history from the now-destroyed kingdom of Esperia, taking place 70 years ago. Once this flashback concludes, the story will return to the present conflicts, where there’s a chance we’ll see Rain God Zaza team up with Nika and Nidhoggr.
Rain God Zaza naturally opposes the Celestial Dragons. Because Killingham can’t fully control Zaza – as shown in chapter 1182 – it’s likely Zaza will end up fighting against the Celestial Dragons rather than helping them. This creates a potentially significant shift in the conflict.
Sommers: You idiot! Now you’re gonna be freaking us out!! But you can still control it, right?
Killingham: Dunno. It’s still a sleeptid, so I think so.
Sommers: Well, what is done is done.
A recent interaction between characters Sommers and Killingham in One Piece chapter 1182 highlighted that Killingham doesn’t have complete control over Zaza.
Later in the story, a powerful character named Rain God Zaza will emerge as an opponent to Nerona Imu and the Celestial Dragons. Zaza has the unique ability to negate Devil Fruit powers – not just those of the Holy Knights and the Five Elders, but potentially even Nerona Imu’s. This makes Zaza a crucial figure in the final saga, and their powers may be the key to defeating Nerona Imu. Fans are highly anticipating Eiichiro Oda’s exploration of Zaza’s abilities in One Piece.
