In its return to Netflix, One Piece Season 2 introduces some fresh characters. One of the cast members shared excitement over encountering the “most adorable” character this season.

The real-life version of “One Piece” made a big splash on Netflix, so it wasn’t a shock when they decided to continue it for another round. With excitement building among fans for Season 2, recent news reveals that several actors have agreed to be part of the upcoming installment. One actor hinted at an exciting addition: we might encounter a cherished character in the sequel.

Mackenyu Maeda, who plays Roronoa Zoro in the widely-acclaimed Netflix series based on Eiichiro Oda’s iconic manga “One Piece”, recently chatted with Variety for his latest venture titled “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”. During the interview, he was asked about upcoming developments in “One Piece” Season 2. Mackenyu hinted at exciting updates, saying, “I don’t want to give too much away, but there are plenty of fresh faces coming up. The storyline announced by Oda-sensei will take us all the way until Chopper makes his appearance. Guess what? I got a chance to meet Chopper! He was just adorable! Oh my goodness, I’m such a fan of Chopper. So being able to act alongside him is simply mind-blowing. It was an incredible experience.”

Tony, affectionately known as Chopper, is a beloved character from the series “One Piece.” In this story, he functions as the physician for the Straw Hat Pirates. Originally a reindeer, he gained unique abilities by consuming a Devil Fruit, which led to his ostracization within his own tribe. Subsequently, Dr. Hiriluk and Dr. Kureha took him under their wing on Drum Island, teaching him medical skills to integrate him into their world. Chopper yearns to traverse the globe, aiming to heal those afflicted by illness. Luffy’s crew encountered Chopper when they arrived on Drum Island in search of medical aid for Nami, who had fallen gravely ill. However, there was no available doctor since the tyrant former ruler, Wapol, banished all doctors except Dr. Kuneha. Due to his intelligence, Chopper assisted Dr. Kuneha. Initially reserved around humans due to past mistreatment, Chopper gradually warmed up to Luffy and his crew over time. When Wapol returned to reclaim Drum Island, Chopper bravely fought alongside Luffy and exhibited his powerful Rumble Ball technique. Following their triumph, Luffy extended an invitation for Chopper to join the crew as their physician.

Many fans eagerly anticipate Chopper’s participation in Season 2 of “One Piece.” Given his status as a crew member, it’s reasonable to assume he’ll appear in the upcoming season. The excitement lies in seeing how Netflix will bring this character to life, as Chopper has multiple forms, making it intriguing to adapt him for live-action. Last year, there were whispers that Gavin Gomes, an actor and stunt performer, was cast for the role. Reportedly, Gomes added his part in Netflix’s “One Piece” to his acting resume.

Chopper is endearing in numerous ways – his face can convey a wide range of emotions, he reacts in funny and relatable ways when excited or embarrassed, and his unique “Hatto” instances have captured the affection of many viewers. This lovable character looks up to Luffy and the Straw Hats crew, viewing them as family and always ready to lend a helping hand after battles. His devotion to the crew is heartwarming, making him an excellent addition to any live-action adaptation. However, it seems that One Piece won’t be appearing on Netflix this year, so fans may have to exercise patience before they can enjoy more adventures with Chopper and his crew.

One Piece Season 2 may not hit Netflix until 2026.
