Why The Devil’s Fruit Is An Awakened Power From 800 Years Ago
Imu’s Devil Fruit power is extremely dangerous, and what makes it especially so is that it’s an Awakened ability. We know this because of the black cloud constantly surrounding Imu’s neck. This cloud typically appears when someone connected to the World Government has Awakened their Devil Fruit. For example, Rob Lucci and Kaku both had this cloud when they awakened their powers. We saw the same thing in the Egghead Arc – all the Yokai of the Five Elders had the black cloud, showing they had also Awakened their Devil Fruits.
Kaido, from the Wano Country arc, describes awakening as the moment someone’s physical and mental capabilities fully realize their potential.
We also saw Cerberus, from the Elbaph Arc, possess a similar cloud-like effect, hinting at a very powerful Awakening. However, Imu’s Awakening cloud is even more detailed and intricate, suggesting his abilities are far beyond anything we’ve seen before. Like Luffy can turn his surroundings into rubber, Imu’s powers directly alter the environment – a clear sign of a fully awakened Paramecia-type Devil Fruit.
