Eiichiro Oda Officially Introduced Gods In The Story in Wano And Elbaph Arcs
It’s been known for a long time that gods exist within the world of One Piece. Eiichiro Oda first introduced them back in 2003, during the Skypiea Arc (specifically chapter 287 in Weekly Shonen Jump), mentioning gods like the God of the Sun, Rain, Forest, and Earth. Initially, most fans dismissed these figures as simply part of Shandian folklore. However, Oda has greatly expanded on the concept of gods over the years, and now they’re becoming central to the story, with their powers being showcased in conflicts against each other.

The One Piece story has been steadily revealing the existence of powerful Gods within its world. This confirmed that other Gods existed, and the story has continued to explore this concept. More recently, in the Elbaph Arc (Chapter 1175), it was revealed that Elbaph has a God of War who can transform into a dragon and wields a hammer called Ragnir – and this being is now Loki. Finally, the World Government’s leader, Nerona Imu, is also a God, possessing the power of the Devil God of the World through their Devil Fruit ability, as shown in Chapter 1079.
How Elbaph Unleashes A Clash Of 3 Titanic Gods In The Warland
The Elbaph arc in One Piece is doing a fantastic job of revealing the incredible power of the world’s three ancient Gods. The conflict officially started when Nerona Imu arrived on Elbaph in Chapter 1179 and demonstrated some of their abilities in Chapter 1180. Shortly after, Loki, the God of War of Elbaph, clashed with Imu, marking the first battle between two Gods in One Piece – beginning in Chapter 1181. This fight is still happening and is expected to continue for several weeks.
Meanwhile, Monkey D. Luffy, now empowered as the Sun God Nika, is regaining his strength to fight Nerona Imu, the ultimate villain in the One Piece world. This will be the first time these incredibly powerful beings – Luffy, Nika, and Imu – will clash, and fans who have waited years for such a monumental showdown are eagerly anticipating it.

Loki is currently nearing defeat and appears poised to be the first god to fall in this story’s final arc. His defeat will immediately trigger the entrance of Monkey D. However, this conflict won’t be fully resolved right away; it’s just a preview of a much larger war to come. Because of this, Luffy’s chances of winning this initial encounter are slim.

Why More Gods Are Set To Be Revealed In The Final Saga According To The Harley
As the story of One Piece nears its end, we’re likely to learn about even more god-like figures. While characters like the Warrior God of Elbaph, the Sun God, and the Devil are already incredibly powerful, the author, Eiichiro Oda, has hinted at the existence of others who possess similar divine abilities.
Eiichiro Oda has hinted at the existence of several powerful gods throughout the One Piece series. These include the Forest God, Earth God, Serpent of Hellfire, Sea God (first mentioned in chapter 1138), and the God of Rain (introduced in the Skypiea Arc, chapter 287). Like the Sun God and Warrior God before them, these deities clearly exist within the One Piece world. As the story progresses towards the upcoming Great War, Oda will likely expand on these godly beings and reveal how they will influence the future of the New World.
The end of the Elbaf arc will launch One Piece into its most thrilling chapter yet, sending the Straw Hat Pirates to an island previously visited only by the Pirate King. This was announced by creator Eiichiro Oda at Jump Festa 2026. Simultaneously, a massive war will begin, as foreshadowed by Nerona Imu in chapter 1146 of the manga.
