Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Shocking Plea to Join the Scream Franchise Again!
The progress for “Scream 7” has faced some turbulence following the extraordinary achievement of “Scream VI” in 2023. After Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, directors of “Scream” (2022) and “Scream VI”, departed to concentrate on 2024’s “Abigail”, the production difficulties multiplied when Melissa Barrera was dismissed due to remarks related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This was followed by Jenna Ortega, a rising star in the cast, also leaving the project. In quick succession, the film lost its co-directors and two lead actors. A major rethink ensued, leading to “Scream” (1996) screenwriter Kevin Williamson taking the director’s chair for only the second time in his impressive three-decade career in Hollywood. Many familiar faces joined Williamson, including original “Scream” cast members Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox, but one actor appears to have been excluded from the project.
