Role-playing games (RPGs) vary greatly, but classic Japanese RPGs such as “Final Fantasy” and “Dragon Quest” have stood the test of time, not only in their impactful history, but also in their design principles. Many other RPGs, despite significant differences in gameplay mechanics, draw inspiration from these games that JRPG enthusiasts can relate to. Here are ten exceptional Western RPGs that JRPG fans are likely to appreciate as well.

If this project comes to fruition, fans will undoubtedly be thrilled, as it has been more than five years since it was initially announced.

*Note: Thunderbolts is a fictional superhero team in the Marvel Universe, and the exact title of the film has not been officially confirmed.

On the other hand, numerous open-world games prioritize combat over exploration as their main feature. From massive battles requiring strategy to intense fights with formidable bosses, these games cater to different tastes in combat.

Initially, Leon made his appearance in the 1998 game “Resident Evil 2”, having recently graduated from a police academy and joining the Raccoon Police Department. In “Resident Evil 4” six years later, he is tasked with rescuing the US president’s daughter, Ashley Graham, in a remote Spanish village. Characters with limited screen time significantly enriched the narratives in Westeros and Essos, although they are often overlooked by viewers.

In continuation of the 2019 blockbuster, “Death Stranding 2” is slated for release on June 24. Although the narrative details of Hideo Kojima’s forthcoming action-adventure game remain unclear, it is set eleven months after the occurrences in “Death Stranding”. Players will resume their role as Sam Bridges, now settled in Mexico with his ‘bridge-baby’, Lou. As we approach the game’s release date in less than a month, Kojima has been discussing the future of the “Death Stranding” franchise beyond “Death Stranding 2”.
