Despite recent hits such as “Daredevil: Born Again” and “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” offering some positives, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has faced challenges for quite some time now. Following the release of blockbusters like “Captain Marvel”, “Avengers: Endgame”, and “Spider-Man: Far From Home” in a four-month period between 2019, the situation for Marvel Studios has been somewhat inconsistent. For every success like “Deadpool & Wolverine”, there’s been a “Marvels”; for each triumph like “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, there’s been a “Eternals”. Instead of focusing on quality after “Endgame” and ensuring each project met the high standards audiences had grown accustomed to, Marvel Studios opted to increase its output and churn out content at an unprecedented rate. Now, with the MCU in a bit of a slump, Marvel is pulling out all the stops for “Avengers: Doomsday”. The Russo Brothers, known for directing “Infinity War” and “Endgame”, are returning to their roles, “Loki” showrunner Michael Waldron has collaborated with MCU screenwriting stalwart Stephen McFeely on the script, and Robert Downey Jr. is back despite all odds. The excitement for this project has been steadily growing, reaching a peak of sorts today.
