Okay, so Embark dropped the Cold Snap update for ARC Raiders on December 16th, and it’s pretty cool! It’s the second big update since the game came out in October. Basically, it throws freezing weather at you with this new Map Modifier, and there are two new events to check out. They also added a new item and a bunch of other stuff. And get this – on December 26th, they’re releasing another Raider Deck, and it’s totally free! Just like the first one, it’s got five pages of unlockable rewards. You earn tokens by playing and doing challenges, and those tokens let you snag some sweet cosmetic items from the Deck. Definitely worth checking out!

Watching The Game Awards made me, like a lot of people, wonder: what actually defines an indie game? If you look at the word itself – independent – it’s tricky. Shouldn’t a truly indie game be completely self-funded and published? Consider Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. It won Best Independent Game and Game of the Year, but it was published by Kepler Interactive, a sizable company that’s partly owned by NetEase – a name not usually linked with indie development.
