Henry Cavill’s Live-Action Voltron Film Gets Surprising Update
In 2022, it was announced that Henry Cavill would star in a live-action adaptation of the anime Voltron. This project ignited a bidding war and eventually found its home at Amazon, where production has since been completed. Rawson Marshall Thurber, who directed last year’s blockbuster Red Notice and comedies like We’re the Millers and Dodgeball, helms this adaptation. Alongside Cavill, the movie boasts an impressive cast, including Sterling K. Brown, Alba Baptista, and Rita Ora. Although the specifics of Voltron’s storyline remain unclear, it appears to follow a similar structure as the anime, albeit with pilots who may be slightly older. Despite initial enthusiasm for the project, particularly given Cavill’s reputation for staying faithful to source material, recent news has dampened hopes for a theatrical release. However, there is now speculation that Voltron could still make its way to theater screens.
