EA Claims Battlefield 6 Performance Mode Can Hit 120 FPS on Consoles

Performance and Fidelity modes first appeared with the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. Games like Rise of the Tomb Raider let players pick between playing at 30 frames per second with a 4K resolution, or 60 FPS at 1080p. These graphical options became more common with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, as most major AAA games gave players the choice between faster frame rates or improved graphics. Now, the PlayStation 5 Pro is pushing things even further. Games such as Mafia: The Old Country can now offer Variable Refresh Rate, support for 120Hz displays, and a higher dynamic resolution in both graphical modes.
