Perfect Bog Fondue John’s Recipe & Three Thingies – Mouse: P.I. for Hire

Start Job

You can begin the Perfect Bog Fondue quest once you’ve completed “Damp Evidence,” the main quest happening in the Far Wetlands. Once you have, go to Little & Big – it’s across from Pepper’s office in the P.I. Office – and talk to John Brown, the bartender who’s standing at the bar.

Track Down John’s Recipe

You’ll find the first section of Perfect Bog Fondue roughly 25% into the Damp Evidence area, immediately after leaving the mines. Once you’re out, go into the building directly ahead and talk to the Old Cheeselegger.

There is a Baseball Card on the alcohol still in the room with the Old Cheeselegger.

Collect Three Thingies for the Old Cheeselegger

Your next job is to find three items for Old Cheeselegger. Here’s where to look for them:

Them Thingies #1

After you finish speaking with the Old Cheeselegger, you’ll soon enter a new section of the mine. Once inside, immediately jump down to the path on the left. You’ll find the first item on the left side of that path.

Them Thingies #2

Inside the mansion, simply follow the main path to the dining room and look for the wall that seems perfectly ordinary. You’ll find the second item on a pile of cheese wheels located on the north side of the room.

Them Thingies #3

You’ll find the third item in the swamp, after you pass the mansion. Look for a large, wrecked ship, and the item is hidden under a pallet propped up against its smokestacks.

Exchange the Thingies for the Recipe

You’ll find the last piece of the Perfect Bog Fondue recipe right before you leave the level on the plane. After exiting the building near the pier, turn right, and then right again when you hit a fence. This will lead you to the Old Cheeselegger, who will trade you the recipe for some items.

Get This Thing Back to John

Now that you have John’s recipe, leave the Far Wetlands. Go back to the P.I. Office and talk to John Brown at Little & Big to finish making Perfect Bog Fondue and get your reward: two Tokens.

Once players collect 20 Tokens in Mouse: P.I. for Hire, they can open the Prize D-Spenser in Little & Big. The best way to get Tokens is by playing the Baseball Cards mini-game, and the dispenser offers a special reward.

Is John’s Recipe Missable?

Okay, so as a completionist, I learned the hard way that there’s a recipe in Perfect Bog Fondue you can easily miss! If you finish the ‘Damp Evidence’ quest before finding it, it’s gone. Don’t worry, ‘Damp Evidence’ isn’t essential to finishing the game, but it does count towards getting 100%. Just make sure you snag that recipe while you’re still in the Far Wetlands – trust me on this one!

Every side quest in Mouse: P.I. for Hire follows a similar pattern, and it’s best to finish them right away when you get them.
