As a seasoned Pokémon enthusiast with over two decades of training under my belt, I must say, these regional variant designs for the Gastly family are nothing short of extraordinary! Having grown up alongside the original Gen 1 gang, it’s heartwarming to see their evolution (pun intended) in the form of Fire-type regional variants.

Two passionate Pokémon aficionados have unveiled an impressive collection of unique creature designs, particularly regional variants inspired by the beloved Gastly family from the initial Generation 1 games. The recent trend in Pokémon fan art, which involves creating new regional variant Pokémon, has gained significant traction over the past few years. This trend has further flourished as artists eagerly speculate about potential new creatures coming with the forthcoming “Pokémon Legends: Z-A”.

Since their debut in the Gen 7 games, Pokemon Sun and Moon, regional variants of Pokemon have become increasingly prominent features in mainline Pokemon games. These regional variants are essentially unique forms of existing Pokemon that undergo changes in appearance and type due to their adaptation to different geographical areas. They serve as one example of how recent Pokemon titles have been expanding the range of creative Pokemon designs, alongside convergent Pokemon and the enigmatic Paradox Pokemon, all adding intriguing elements to the expansive world of Pokemon.

2 enthusiasts in the Pokémon community, identified as GreenScottish and meluharegion, have recently unveiled some fresh ideas for regional variants. Their proposals revolve around introducing a Fire-type to the Gastly family through unique designs for Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar – characters that have remained fan favorites since their debut in the initial Pokémon Red and Green games. The designs are influenced by yokai and the consistent presence of pure Fire-type across these unofficial Pokémon suggests that the region they inhabit is volcanic in nature.

What The Gengar Family Looks Like as Fire-Types

The designers regrettably didn’t give many details about these particular Pokemon. However, GreenScottish, who conceived the concepts, did reveal the glossy versions of each beast. It’s quite typical for artists within the Pokemon community to design custom Paradox Pokemon and regional variants on their own. These unique designs frequently include comprehensive Pokedex entries, exclusive moves, and distinctive abilities.

Since the unveiling of Pokemon Legends: Z-A earlier this year, there has been no shortage of fan-created designs for Pokemon. Fans are excitedly waiting for more information about the upcoming game in the series and the reappearance of Mega Evolution. At the moment, not much is known about the game, but fans can anticipate going back to the Kalos region while Lumiose City undergoes renovation. It has been confirmed that Mega Pokemon will feature in the game, and it’s highly probable that Pokemon Legends: Z-A will also present numerous new Kalosian regional variations, much like its predecessor, Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
