Pokemon GO Players Shouldn't Worry About Their Rayquaza IVs

Highlights

  • Rayquaza IVs don’t affect gameplay much, so players can relax about stat distributions for this powerful Pokemon in Pokemon GO, according to player tests.
  • Mega Rayquaza returned with bugs, but a rerun event gave more players a chance at this legendary Pokemon in Pokemon GO.

As a seasoned Pokémon GO player with over a decade of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the latest findings about Rayquaza IVs have been a breath of fresh air. For years, we’ve been obsessing over perfect IV distributions, and now it seems that Rayquaza isn’t one of those high-maintenance Pokémon.

Players participating in Pokemon GO can rest assured that the Individual Values (IVs) of Rayquaza won’t impact gameplay beyond a certain level, as it’s been found that its stats are not noticeably influential. In the world of Pokemon GO, trainers can obtain Rayquaza and its Mega Evolution, Mega Rayquaza, through special Raid battles and trading with other fellow trainers.

As a dedicated Pokémon GO enthusiast, I was thrilled when Mega Rayquaza made its triumphant comeback on June 29, gracing us with its presence during an exclusive Elite Raid event. However, the initial launch was fraught with technical issues, prompting Niantic to announce a second chance on August 3, this time without the Elite Gym prerequisite. While gathering Mega Energy proved challenging during the re-run, it opened doors for more players than ever before to get their hands on Mega Rayquaza. Luckily, acquiring the base Rayquaza is now less of a struggle, and we can all breathe easy knowing its stats are nothing to worry about!

Using the insights provided by Reddit user rtboyce, Shandriel carried out a study on Rayquaza’s Individual Values (IVs) in Pokémon GO and posted their findings in the Pokémon GO subreddit. The research revealed that beyond a certain point, Rayquaza’s stats did not significantly influence the outcomes of battles. To be precise, there was minimal power discrepancy between a Rayquaza with a standard 10/10/10 IV distribution and a Hundo Rayquaza (perfect in all three IV categories). This observation appears to extend to Mega Rayquaza within Pokémon GO too, as both will take the same damage and deal the same damage to opposing Pokemon within this IV range. The disparity in damage could be noticeable only when battling against powerful Pokemon like Mega Tyranitar, but it would not ultimately affect the battle’s outcome.

Pokemon GO Fan’s Research Shows Players Don’t Need to Worry About Rayquaza IVs

Based on tests carried out by Shandriel, it’s found that the attack stat of Rayquaza doesn’t significantly impact most Raid battles in Pokemon GO, especially when facing off against Primal Groudon, Primal Kyogre, Mega Charizard, Moltres, and Tyranitar. Furthermore, the defense stat and maxing out Rayquaza to level 51 also seem inconsequential in these encounters.

In the game Pokemon GO, Rayquaza and its Mega form are incredibly strong on their own, so players don’t need to focus on capturing one with a specific balance of attack, defense, or HP stats. Instead, rare Hundo Pokemon will continue to be highly valued for their outstanding stats. Shiny Hundo Pokemon are particularly special due to their infrequent appearance in the game. Special events like Community Day and limited-time events in Pokemon GO increase the chances of encountering a Shiny Hundo Pokemon.
