As a seasoned Pokémon GO trainer with years of experience under my belt, I must say that the latest announcement by Niantic has me more than just excited! The 2024 Pokémon GO World Championships event is shaping up to be an unforgettable experience for all trainers, regardless if they can make it to Honolulu or not.

Niantic has officially announced a special in-game Pokémon GO event commemorating the Pokémon World Championships of 2024, which will take place in August. The Pokémon Company organizes this annual competition to honor the enduring success of their franchise. Participants engage in various tournament matches featuring the main Pokémon series, as well as Pokémon GO and even the Pokémon Trading Card Game, in a quest to identify the finest trainers globally.

As a longtime fan of the Pokemon franchise, I’m thrilled to share that this year’s 2024 Pokemon World Championships will be held in Honolulu, Hawaii from August 16 to 18, 2024. While I’d love to attend the event in person, I know not everyone can make it due to various reasons. But fear not! Niantic has got us covered with a special Pokemon GO event that will celebrate the annual championships.

Starting from August 16, 2024 (Friday), at 10:00 a.m., until August 20, 2024 (Tuesday) at 8:00 p.m., local time, participants are invited to join the 2024 Pokemon GO World Championships event, which is free for all players. During this period, players can perform up to five Special Trades per day and use a Charge TM to help Shadow Pokemon forget Frustration.

As a dedicated Pokemon GO trainer, I’m excited to share that during the 2024 World Championships celebration, there’ll be both free and paid features. If you’re up for an immersive experience, consider grabbing a $5 timed research ticket. This special pass grants access to event-exclusive Pokemon like Azumarill, Vigoroth, and Cresselia, along with extra 25,000 stardust and a premium remote raid pass. However, this limited research will only be available until the event concludes on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 8:00 p.m., so don’t miss out!

Coinciding with the 2024 Pokemon GO World Championship Event, participants will encounter the GO Battle Week: Shared Skies event. This event kicks off on Friday, August 16, at noon, and mainly revolves around the GO Battle League. Players can expect extra perks like quadruple Stardust from victory rewards and engaging in as many as 100 GO league battles daily. During this period, specific Pokemon such as Lickitung, Paldean Wooper, and Mareanie will be noticeably more common on the map.

As a dedicated Pokémon GO enthusiast, I find myself in an intriguing predicament regarding the 2024 World Championships event. Whispers of Dynamax raids being integrated into the mobile game have been circulating lately, and while Niantic has hinted at this Gen-8 feature, they’ve remained tight-lipped about the specifics – such as how it will blend with our current gaming experience or when we can anticipate its release.
