Pokemon Pokopia Player Gives Bleak Beach an Impressive Makeover

A fan of the game Pokemon Pokopia recently rebuilt an old site in Bleak Beach, replacing two houses with a new, two-story hotel. The player explained that the hotel, built along the boardwalk, was inspired by a similar structure they’d created in another Nintendo game.

Pokemon Pokopia is a huge hit in 2026, currently ranking as the top-rated exclusive game for the new Switch 2 console. Despite being released on Nintendo’s new and somewhat debated Game-Key Card format, Pokopia has already sold over 2.2 million copies in just four days. Since launch, the game has also featured special, limited-time events, and currently, players can participate in Bulbasaur’s Jump Rope Contest until April 26th.

Pokopia Player Builds Fancy Bleak Beach Boardwalk Hotel

In the game Pokopia, players have creative freedom to design habitats for their Pokémon. One player, TheBarkenos, recently showcased their impressive build on the game’s subreddit, transforming the rundown Bleak Beach. They began by demolishing two dilapidated houses on the boardwalk, located on the outskirts of town. TheBarkenos then rebuilt the boardwalk itself, replacing the sand and broken tiles with grass and brick. The centerpiece of their creation is a two-story hotel designed to house multiple Pokémon, complete with a lawn decorated with beach chairs, bicycles, and trees. The hotel area was enclosed by a fence, accessible by using the Surf or Magnet Rise moves within the game.

TheBarkenos, creators of the Pokopia hotel, explained they drew inspiration from their experience building in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. They noted that while Pokemon Pokopia and Animal Crossing: New Horizons are different games, they share some common ground in how players design their spaces. TheBarkenos highlighted the similarities between their Bleak Beach hotel and a previous island design in Animal Crossing, pointing out that despite differences in roof size, the underlying design principles were clear.

Pokopia’s Limits Don’t Stop Players From Crafting Impressive Homes

The Bleak Beach hotel is particularly impressive given the challenges players face in Pokemon Pokopia. Currently, Pokemon Pokopia limits builds to 10 blocks per side, which makes creating spacious habitats, like large mansions, difficult. Players are cleverly overcoming this by breaking down large structures into smaller, 10-block habitats with individual enclosures. Whether the Pokemon Pokopia developers will increase this limit in the future remains to be seen.
