Capcom recently released a new trailer for their upcoming game, Pragmata, revealing a new android character called Eight who seems to have a strong bond with Diana. Pragmata is a sci-fi action game where Hugh and Diana try to escape a moon-based research station taken over by a dangerous AI. Originally announced in 2020, the game is now scheduled to release on April 17, 2026, after being pushed back several times.
In Pragmata, players control Diana and Hugh at the same time. Hugh fights enemies directly, while Diana uses her hacking skills to find weaknesses and gain advantages. The game focuses on solving hacking puzzles in real-time, which impact battles by giving the pair benefits and weakening enemies. Diana’s hacking abilities come from being a Pragmata – a technologically advanced android capable of connecting directly to machines within the research facility. Beyond gameplay, Capcom emphasizes the emotional connection between Diana and Hugh as a father-daughter relationship.
Pragmata Trailer Reveals Another Android Named Eight
Okay, so Capcom just dropped a new trailer for Pragmata, and it looks like things are getting more complicated! They introduced this little android character called Eight, and honestly, they came out of nowhere. Eight wasn’t in the demo at all, so we have no clue what their deal is. In the trailer, you see Eight stuck in some trees, and Hugh and Diana find them. It doesn’t look like rescuing Eight is going to be simple – Diana specifically says they’ll come back to help, which is a pretty big hint that it’s going to be a whole thing. The game’s coming out on April 17, 2026, and I’m even more hyped now!
The appearance of Eight in Pragmata makes us wonder how many androids like them and Diana are at the lunar research facility, and if they all want to defeat the dangerous AI, IDUS. While the game has echoes of another well-known Capcom series, a producer quickly dismissed any connection to Mega Man. Later in the trailer, Eight escapes the trees but remains trapped behind glass. They then share important information with Diana, urging her to complete Eight’s original mission. Eight looks unwell during this scene, suggesting a potentially dark outcome for the android, as they aren’t shown again in the trailer.
In Pragmata, Diana serves as the heart of the story, with her desire to return to Earth giving Hugh a strong reason to persevere. The addition of Eight suggests this emotional connection might expand to include all the androids at the research facility. Capcom has often used younger characters to drive the emotional core of its narratives, like the protagonist in Resident Evil Requiem who was determined to save Emily. However, trailers for Pragmata indicate Capcom is building on this tradition, giving Diana her own independent goals instead of simply making her someone Hugh needs to protect.
