As an avid gamer, I’m hardly taken aback when game developers opt for early access releases these days. But Semiwork stands out from the crowd by maintaining a close bond with its player base, regularly sharing updates and sneak peeks on their YouTube channel. In their latest video, they unveiled a fresh mechanic – the REPO Overcharge mechanism. So, in this walkthrough, let’s delve into how this new feature will shape the gameplay experience.
The introduction of the new mechanic is likely to add depth to the game, potentially proving challenging for players who are used to eliminating foes by simply tossing them into pits or onto the ground. However, this change may also make the latter stages of the game more thrilling than they’ve ever been before.
How the Overcharge Mechanic Works in REPO
In the game REPO, an effective method for dealing with monsters involves either slamming them against sturdy objects or hurling them off edges into deep voids. This tactic is straightforward when facing smaller opponents, but larger ones such as the Clown call for a significant investment in Power Upgrades. As you progress through the game, at least one player will amass enough power to eliminate any monster single-handedly. However, the latest Overcharge feature in REPO may curb this strategy, as your semi-robot risks explosion when handling heavy enemies without caution.
When I grab an enemy in-game, a new red counter indicator pops up in the upper left corner of my stamina bar, marking the fill level for the Overcharge mechanic. If this counter fills up to 100, it triggers an explosion and sends me flying back into REPO. Much like other explosions, I temporarily lose control as my character goes through the Tumble Launch animation. The speed at which the Overcharge meter fills depends on how much weight the enemy I’m lifting has.
Beware of the REPO Overcharge explosion, as it not only pushes back but also inflicts harm. Its lethality is still uncertain, but it’s safe to say you’ll take over 40 damage from it. Given that enemies with low health could be wiped out by such an explosion.
Additionally, the updated gameplay elements promote cooperation. When you and your teammates hoist an opponent simultaneously, the speed at which the Overcharge gauge increases is noticeably slower.
Does Overcharge Mechanic Affect Values?

Initially, it might appear that the fresh mechanics could make it harder to meet your quota. However, luckily for us, the Overcharge mechanic in REPO exclusively impacts encounters with monsters. Hence, regardless if it’s a delicate cup or a hefty piano, you can continue lifting them effortlessly without worrying about any unwanted explosions.
