As an analyst with years of experience in the tech and finance industry, I find the recent appointments within the U.S. administration intriguing. The appointment of David Sacks as the AI and Crypto Czar is particularly noteworthy given his background at PayPal and close ties with Elon Musk. It’s like having the perfect blend of Silicon Valley know-how and real-world experience, which could potentially lead to groundbreaking developments in both AI and crypto spaces.
Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, has expressed his thoughts on the latest appointment of David Sacks as the White House’s “AI and Crypto Advisor.
Previously, I too noted the upcoming change at the helm of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, with a new chairman set to assume office following the departure of incumbent, Gary Gensler, effective from January 2025.
Gensler resigned in November, posting an announcement about that on his official X account.
Elon Musk and new “crypto czar”
David Sacks, a venture capitalist and ex-COO of PayPal, has been appointed to oversee the government’s initiatives in AI (Artificial Intelligence) and cryptocurrencies.
Besides being associated with Elon Musk, Sacks is said to have motivated him in his groundbreaking $44 billion purchase of Twitter. Furthermore, he has been designated as the leader of the Science and Technology Advisory Council within the U.S. presidential administration.
It’s likely that Elon Musk and Sacks will collaborate given that Musk oversees xAI and chatbot Grok on platform X, while Sacks now leads AI development policy in the U.S. Moreover, Musk holds a position within the Department of Government Efficiency, often abbreviated as D.O.G.E., further strengthening the possibility of their partnership.
Ripple CEO to Sacks: “Huge congrats”
Garlinghouse tweeted his heartfelt congratulations to David Sacks, expressing confidence that Sacks’ deep understanding of technology will be instrumental in advancing the White House’s progressive initiatives on cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence.
“Dream team!” Garlinghouse concluded his tweet.
Previously this week, the head of Ripple made a statement regarding the incoming SEC chairman, who is replacing Gary Gensler and holds an anti-cryptocurrency viewpoint. The role has now been handed over to the former SEC Commissioner, Paul Atkins.
Garlinghouse tweeted that it was an “outstanding choice.”
